A Montana native, Commander Joel Stewart, started the Baghdad Anglers Club back in 2005 as a way to let Armed Forces personnel relax in a war zone. We asked him to write a post for the Bully Pulpit.

I was able to watch this grow through internet forums over the years, and see the outpouring of support from the fishing community. Most of the gear they had was donated by major companies, small fishing clubs, and everyone in-between. The club ended when we pulled out of Iraq, but the story is pretty darned cool.
