I’ve seen conflicting info, so I figured I’d ask the group. Are Axis deer vitals in the same location as whitetail?

Yes, I have shot 6, my son has shot one, and my wife has shot one. All were shot in the "standard" ungulate vital area. (center from top to bottom, 3" behind the "shoulder") None of them walked away after being hit with a 30 caliber bullet at or under 100 yards.

Yeah, the same. 1st shot on my 1st Axis was in the the front knee cap. I wouldn't recommend it for a focal point. 2nd shot mid chest. DONE
(Learning point: Just because you're shooting a Whizz-Bang Mag doesn't mean game will just flop over at the first hit. Retired the 7RM and put a 7/08 into the front line. NO further knee cap's & NO further 2nd shots)
