Anybody else blow up there bow hours before heading out on a hunt.

Was flinging arrows this evening ahead of tmrw departure for Utah elk and hear a CRAAACK, while at full draw. No bueno, splintered limb.
Pulled out the old hoyt anlphamax.

Darn it!
IMG_4851.jpegIMG_4848.jpeg and trying to make sure it is good to go while an order for new limbs gets underway. May not see new limbs before Sept 16 season end so old bow will have to do.

Happened to me once the day before season. Called the wife told her I’ll be home late was running to the archery shop to buy a new bow. She wanted “to talk about it” I told her we just did it’ll probably be a couple hours. Maybe try switch fletching colors?IMG_4886.jpeg

Blew my stuff up in camp once also. Think I taped the yoke with a broadhead after almost killing my first solo bull. The next day called one in for my buddy. Shot his bow in camp things worked well enough following day he returned the favor. 3 days 2 bulls 1 bow we killed some dinks but it was a great trip

Aw man that sucks, at least you have a spare. I haven't had a bow blow up, but did cut my string during an elk hunt once. I had just been busted by a bull and was putting my arrow back in the quiver, still attached on the bow, when I nicked it.

Good luck!

Yup

During season.

I did a stalk on this buck. Came to full draw, stepped over the ledge and he was walking away out of range.

Came home, took my bow out of the Toyota, and it looked like this.

Broke out my other I had been practicing with as well and hunted the rest of the season with that.

My dad made it in high school in the spring of 1974. I still use it.

was the time after a 5 mile chase for a bear and then I’ve got an easy shot. go to draw back. I just can’t do it. Try again. Can’t do it. Turns out the cable had come off. There’s no fixing that stand there in the middle of nowhere.

Had a fire drill after cracking my Mathews Outback limb days before leaving on an elk hunt. Went straight out and bought a new Mathews V3 while bow #1 got its warranty limbs. No time to worry about $, had to be done. I keep 3 bows at home, and always bring a spare with me on trips.

And then this weekend the swaro spotter 20-60 eyepiece quit functioning. Hear a part rattling inside the eyepiece. I NEED that spotter for current elk hunt.
I feel your pain. At least my woes happened the week before season.

Know anyone you can borrow a spotter from? I doubt they can warranty it in time.

@Jnasa I do, thankfully. A HTer to boot and the guy who handled the sale when I bought mine through Rocky Mountain Bighorn Society (they are a dealer) back in 2005. So nice to know awesome people who are happy to pull together and help each other out.

As for the Hoyt limbs, I’m a realist. I know nobody’s gonna pull Hoyt Ventum pro 33. 60-70 pound limbs out of a hat before my hunt ends on the 16th.
Hoyt is known for never expediting a shipment. I bet they would for hot shot target competition shooters, but not hunters apparently.

I am lucky for being unlucky.

Swaro is Fedexing a loaner eyepiece e to use on my hunts till warranty fixes/replaces the busted one.

Found a guy on RS who is shipping identical used limbs for my bow for $127 including $47 for overnight delivery. Hoyt refused to to warrantee a free replacement and wanted $250 plus shipping PLUS a 2 week wait at least to send.

So Bow should be back in action and tuned by this Friday and the swaro the same.

I can be back in this Utah country Monday taking photos like these I took while hunting the weekend as I shop for a big bull.

Oh come on man, those hostess donettes must be covered in pixy dust! Glad to hear it’s all working it out! Now you better restock on that pixy dust so you can find a good one!

I thought that this type of thing only happens to me and always the day before the big hunt. Glad to see I’m not the only one. Sorry for your bad timing. Good luck on the hunt though.

Great looking bulls

Why did Hoyt deny warranty on the limbs?
