Anyone have ever hunted North of Grand Junction near Baxter pass?? I am going to archery hunt near there from Aug 31, through Sept 11.

Then off to Idaho to rifle hunt from September 15, through September 28 in the Middle Fork B Zone. Flying into Cold Meadows. Also have a bear tag...

Can't wait!!! 5 weeks of elk hunting straight in 2 states!! Life is great....

I looked into that unit a few years back. From what I was able to gather there is a gate up on top. Walk about a mile on the road in. Then drop of the east side and call into the finger canyons. There are a lot of elk in there but most are down in the bottom. So unless you have axcess threw the bottom (Private) you will have to go in from the top. That means you got to pack em' out up hill too.
From what I understand there are some good bulls in there too.
