Any Remington 788 fans here?

What years did they make the 788’s?

1967 to 1983, made about 550,000

I have a .222. Never leaving the family. Think it is a 1977. Have to check. My Mother bought it new for my Stepfather. I would have been 11 years old. My favorite rifle. mtmuley

Shot my first elk back in the early 90s with a 308 788, with Core Lokts no less. Eventually traded it off, but this past month found another in a gun shop and bought it. Hopefully can sight in next week. Has ok wood on it, but tempted to put a Timney trigger in. Front of mag is a bit loose, though sounds like there's a way to fix that. Found this which has a lot of useful info:

I had one wish I would of never got rid of it. But I was young and I wasn't into reloading yet and ammo couldn't be found easily so I traded it off. Wish I wouldn't of done that. I always wanted one in 44 mag but man they pricey
