Wisconsin is pretty much capped over in the northern half. Guys are just getting out on the smaller lakes.

There was a boat that had broke ice out of the landing this morning at work to duck hunt or maybe check traps. The ice refroze and he came back in sometime around noon. I didn’t see him but the ice looked like it was 1” thick or more where he’d broke through before light.

Things freezing very fast here and it's going to be very quick later this week. Just made plans to ice fish this weekend rather than deer hunt!

De Pere was frozen all the way across about a mile down from the dam. I checked Bago last night, wide open- but I bet it will be locked up by the end of the week. Fingers crossed for low wind.

People have been walking on the ice in ND for a few days now. 4 wheelers on some of the smaller lakes.

-3 last night froze the main channel of the Mississippi River. This is the earliest I’ve seen the whole channel freeze for a long time. There was a barge just down stream last night, I don’t know if there are more up river or not. It’s hard telling what this guy is doing. He could be the last of the duck hunters or he could be running commercial fishing nets or he could just be trying to get his boat out before it’s too late.

It has been a long time since I've duck hunted with ice concerns and last night I braved the cold and got after it. I forgot how much fun ducks in the ice, snow and cold was!

Whenever we were being dumb an old co worker of mine would say “There’s a fine line between dedication and stupidity.” These guys are stuck and the channel they came down has been blocked by large chunks.

Any info on Laramie plains lakes, or Curt Gowdy? My daughter in Northern Colorado wants to get some ice fishing in.
