Antelope...Lets See Them!!!

I posted my As They Lay pictures already so might as well share here. This is the second year in a row I drew this tag. The tag is open for all of October but I really wanted to find something in two days with my schedule this year. I’m very happy with what I found. My brother in law and I had a truly awesome hunt for his pronghorn this year. We both lost weight and got into shape over the past couple years, so we intentionally hunted them in the hills. Spotted them way off and above us, got 325 out, and he dropped a great goat with a rifle I worked on a ton and my hand loads. He has extra points coming out of the back of his bases, he was down by 10 on opening morning, and we were meat in the cooler by 12:30.

My brother in law got his euro back, came out great. I guess they did a rough measure on it and said he’s right around 80”.

I had a great opening weekend hunt with my 14 yr old son. He filled his doe tag at first light (and with a 324 yard shot!), then we put on some miles looking to fill my tag and it all came together late in the day.
I think pronghorn hunting is the perfect kind of hunt with kids, and is easily in the top 3 for me. Big, wide open country, you can hike and glass for miles, and you get good opportunities all day long. I still have a doe tag for a different HD, so will be out again soon.
