They should have put these wolves in rocky mountain/estes park.

Far away from any ranching, far from where they'd easily get poached/trapped, and where all the people of colorado could get a live look at the nature they wanted to see.

You under the impression that those elk were from somewhere other than yellowstone? You're smart enough to see those populations and the pummelling that herd took, mysteriously after 1995.

I don't think they'd stay there in perpetual fashion. Long enough for some famed elk to get ate.

The good thing about wolves, it gives hunters like you an excuse for not shooting an elk every year.

First off your gratuitous response is expected. But I tag out better than average, despite less than 10% success rate for a 5 day spike season in Oregon. A lot of times by fall any herd you see has hardly any calves keft, meaning fewer spikes next year.

You ever hunt one a 5 day spike only season, or do you stick to your month long seasons? Do you know why the success rate is so low? No, you don’t. What you do know is how to use a keyboard and take half a** pot shots at others.

I’ve also tagged out 2 out of 2 in Idaho on five days to bull hunt. I wouldnt have gone to Idaho if Oregon had a better handle on the predator problem (including wolves) and elk management.

My brother and I have been hunting the Gardiner area for the last number of years. The biggest reasons are the corrals for my horses, and that you can get around the country really well on horseback.

This year we literally snagged the last decent campsite and corral. So some number of hunters want to hunt there.

There aren't nearly the number of elk than there were in the 80's, but from my memory, the hunting then was a circus. As a young man, I stayed away from there. As an old man, the hunting is still interesting enough to enjoy.

The biggest problem with the herd, is it needs to become a limited tag district. The bull to cow ratio is very poor. It will never become limited entry, so things will limp along, as they are.
