Another history find.

Some people I know have a ranch that was homesteaded 100 years ago.
Very near the Missouri River. For as long as anyone can remember the pump house door was held open with an old rifle someone found way back when.
One day somehow someone in the know was there and saw the old rifle and took it to do some research. Turned out to be from the Lewes and Clark expedition. Could not fire it but it had all its original wood, a cool find. Now it's in the old homestead house over the fireplace.

Took the gun to a local gun shop today. Between the 3 guys there they all agreed its a falling block 22 caliber.

Was the field farmed? Could have been on the tractor and jostled off
