I am afraid that delisting would not have helped in this situation. No hunting season is going to allow killing sows with cubs. Overall, it can't hurt, though, for sure.

Pretty soon there will not be an open area to go enjoy. Instead of doing something about problem areas, they are just closing them to the public. If I recall, British Columbia did the same thing. Nobody wants to address the bear numbers.

The thing I really liked was when Fraley said that, "up here really anytime you go out you are in bear country and could have an encounter." I'm glad that sow ran past the little girl! One of these times it won't. Since everything is grizzly habitat, I guess we'll just all have to stay out of the woods to make sure they're all protected.
