Amazing!

My Momma broke her hip Friday, imagine the leg bone where a shaft comes off it towards the ball that fits into the socket, well thats where it broke. They operated Saturday morning, putting a bolt through the leg into the shaft, then a plate was screwed onto the side of the leg bone and the bolt was tightened to where the Doctor said if it was'nt for the pain she would be able to walk that day! Sunday they had her out of bed and rehab should start later this week! Now that is amazing! John

I bet it hurts though, geesh. My brother had a kidney taken out, they found cancer, he was walking (sort of), the next day. He's been doing great for years now too, they got it out, pretty much. I guess they say, it heals faster, when they do that, get them on their feet quick. They must be pretty good, to put it together like that and get people using it. I hope she does well!!

Tom....my mom had the same thing in July. They found a tumor and luckily it wasn't cancer. This comes only 2 months after she broke her shoulder tripping over a kid's backpack at school (she is a teacher in Baton Rouge). She said that for the first little while she just got tired really fast, but was able to move around and do things almost immediately.

draftstud - yep, it is amazing what they can do with medicine these days. I watched that operation once on Discovery (back when the OR show was on) and it just looked painful watching it, can't imagine what it would feel like to experience it. Good luck to your mom.
