Last Friday four Fargo police officers responded to a minor traffic accident on one of Fargo’s main thoroughfares. As they were processing the accident scene a gunman in a nearby car opened fire on them at close range Killing the officer in the picture below and critically wounding two others. The fourth officer returned fire and killed the shooter. The driver of one of the cars in the accident was also shot twice but survived. At a press conference today the contents of the shooters car were revealed. 1800 rounds of ammunition. The fallen officer, Jake Wallin, was 23 years old and just sworn in last April. His funeral is Saturday. Police think the shooter was headed either to the street fair downtown or to the Red River Valley Fair at the fairground. Were it not for the heroic efforts of the fourth officer, Zach Robinson, the shooter likely would have continued driving down town to continue the carnage. I hope the pictures work.
