No need to delete this post for the OP. If you're interested in hunting the unit, you can still apply for the unit too. You could be number 800,001 of the people who already know about the unit and explore this unit almost every day of the year.
I have 14 points. I’m a very capable hunter but have never hunted Colorado.Man…I am trying here lol.
I know who Big Fin is.
I subscribe to Fresh Tracks TV or whatever his platform is called so I am pretty sure I have seen the majority of his content. I also listen to the Hunt Talk podcast and Elk Talk on the regular. I don’t know of any of his recent content that includes unit numbers or anything but the very general area of a State he is hunting and maybe some info on if it is LE or general tag and the like.
You are comparing apples to oranges.
You do you brother, but I know if I spent 35 years learning a unit I wouldn’t be drawing attention to that unit. Not in a million years.
With that, I am going to try my best to bow out of this one.
Originally, I had been looking at unit 81 on the advice of some people online. But after more research, I’m considering the military base unit 512. I see the deer hunts are limited to two 2 day hunts. That seems crazy when you have to use that many points and are looking for a trophy buck.
I’m a very accomplished elk hunter. I was an outfitter in Western Montana for 12 years. Never killed a big mule deer and I don’t save any points in any other states other than elk and antelope in Wyoming. I would certainly be grateful for any tips or advice.
