The FN isn't that big of a pistol. Shot one a bit when my BIL had one. I think I know why the question was asked. mtmuley

Intriguing cartridge, don't have one but have considered. Ammo prices coming down on it as well. If I recall one YouTuber Garand Thumb tested the caliber but maybe the "stopping" power didn't look great on the lifelike test dummy? Could be wrong

The original idea of the 5.7 was as a pistol sized cartridge to defeat soft body armor. Outside of that intended purpose I don’t really get the appeal over a good 9mm, especially for the price of ammo.

Been looking at getting one for a couple years. I’d like to see my wife shoot it side by side with her 9mm to see if she shoots/likes it better for packing in bear country.

It's fun to shoot, but I'd never expect to stop a bear with it.

Palmetto State Armory had a good sale on the FN and ammo yesterday… haven’t checked to see if it’s still going today.

Not sure a 40gr. V-Max doing 1800fps would be my choice to convince a bear to stop chewing on me. Would make a pretty interesting light varmint round for popping raccoons or groundhogs inside 200 yards, though.

The "magic" of the 5.7 is the SS190 loading with a steel core penetrator. We civilians can't get that. A 5.7 loading with standard FMJs or softpoints is getting you .22 Mag. performance.
