Ok , so im going to these HDs on a DIY hunt, I have the onX chip, blm and bm maps and forest service road maps, will go during the week , my question is which week should I go heres my 2 choices, ill make it clear, I want to shoot a bull, raghorn or first legal brow tine bull in 446 is fine. dates choices . oct 31- nov 4 or November 14-19 .... IS more snow better ? will the elk still be on FS land ? or should I concentrate on lower elevation block management and state land ? thanks:D

I've been around that area a lot and I've seen elk in low country and the high country. They move around a lot they get hunted by outfitters on the big ranches and from the forest service from the public. This is a good place to hunt the edges of private and public. Lots of glassing and patience will most likely be your best bet. I love that area, probably my favorite place to be

If your flexible I'd say hunt whenever you get snow and cold weather, which seems to stop a lot of hunters from getting to far into the backcountry. I got a bull in 446 two years ago on Nov 14th during a really cold period, high of 3 degrees. I went back last fall to the same BMA and never seen an elk/deer and covered lots of miles. Lots of hunters on that particular ranch. I think hunter pressure is the biggest factor.

ok thanks guys, im leaning heavy toward nov 14-20 . I am not afraid of cold, or walking .... I appreciate your input

And .... Should I bring my ATV ? Is there any old logging roads that I can use it on that vehichles can't go down?
