40 years of Earthquakes

Interesting... also demonstrates where we had monitoring equipment when.

Also as I watched it, I noticed a big increase in OK. Is this attributed to the fracking down there?

Absolutely... though also now there is monitoring. There were a few big ones in OK due to injection wells (waste water storage, specifically into the arbuckle formation), so technically not fracking but OG development related, because of these big one's the state put in seismic monitoring networks and then started picking up all the little earthquakes. If a well traverses a fault and you frack into that fault you can absolutely causes an earthquake and that definitely happens... but those tend to be much smaller the news worthy one's are the arbuckle injection wells.

My assumption is these were happening already but no one was monitoring them. You can't really feel a 2 and even a 2 can go un-noticed. Lots of those are 2s.

If you are fracking a well and a event above, I believe a 2 occurs the OGS will contact you (the operator) and you potentially have to ceases operations.
