Well hunting season is over here, so I gotta a little time to come up with a handload for my rifle. I've been shooting factory loads so far. I'm thinking about a load using 165gr noslers. I have a few books but was wanting to see if a few of you have a load that works good for you and would be willing to share. Thanks, Keith

Keith, Both rifles that I show 165 Partition loads for shot best with 70.5 grains of IMR 4831 and Winchester WLRM primers. Both used Rem brass.

Back when I shot a .300 Win mag, I used 180 gr Nosler Solid Bases (no longer available)or 200 gr Partitions and IMR-4350 powder. Sorry, but I never used 165 gr bullets. You can bank on Danr's loads, though, I bet.

NOTE: I went back and checked my records, and I used 71 grains of IMR-4350 with the 180 gr bullet, Remington cases, and CCI LR Mag primers. This gave me right about 3000 FPS, but is close to the max so work up to it. Groups were just under 1 inch out of my Remington 700. IMR-4350 gave me much higher velocity than the other powders available at the time.

H-4831 burns a lot slower than IMR 4831. Don't know why they have the same designation. The same is true with IMR and Hodgdon 4350. The H version is much slower.
