Anyone have a favorite load for the 257 AI with the Barnes 100 TTSX? I have 100 Nosler +P cases freshly fire formed. Have plenty of the Barnes and lots of different powders, but was specifically looking to work something up with RL-16, 17 or 26, or AR-Comp. Thinking that I would like to hit 3200fps, may or may not be achievable. Any thoughts?

First off, what twist rate is your barrel?
A 100gr mono may not stabilize in the "normal" 25 caliber 1:10 twist.

Try Hybrid 100V.
Only powder getting me close to your velocities with 100gr Ballistic Tip from the standard 257 Roberts.

I achieved that velocity in a standard bob and a 22" barrel with RL-17. I was using 100 grs Scirocco 2, velocity was there but accuracy was lacking. Settled with H4350. Rl-17 or 16 should get you there, no experience with 26 or AR-comp in standard short cartridge.

??? The 100 TTSX and 101 LRX are literally designed for use in 1:10 twist barrels, per Barnes' instructions. I've always had them shoot well, even in rifles that shot not-so-great otherwise.

OP, I'd see if I can pick up some IMR 4350 or Ramshot Hunter and look in the Nosler manuals. Should be achievable.

The rifle is a Winchester Mdl 70 Fwt built around 1989. It stabilized the 100TTSX just fine as a standard 257. I've got ladder loads plotted with RL16, 17 and 26, see how they do. Think I have some IMR4350 but will try these first. I settled on RL16 over 17 in the standard Bob, can't quite remember why, probably group size. Thanks for the replies. I will post up what I settle on for the end.

I didn't check Barnes manual.
Going off of other mono manufacturers.
90gr is heaviest their bullets will stabilize in a 1:10.

Most companies that I can think of (aside from Hornady and Hammer*) have 100gr monos for 1:10. Nosler, Barnes, and Federal all have 100gr monos loaded for their 25-06 ammunition. Lehigh defense also has a 102gr mono that Underwood loads in 25-06 ammo.

There are obviously outliers, like Cutting Edge's products. For the most part, though, 100gr monos are typically good for 1:10 twist barrels.

*Hammer has a 104 mono rated for 1:10, but it doesn't have a boat tail.
