This picture makes me ! His dad is our vet on the farm! My first memory of this kid was Christmas Eve when he was probably 7 years old. We were having a family Christmas and it was a bad snow storm. There was a feeble knock on the door and Doc and hi, this kid were there to say they’d just shot a buck. Of course we postponed Christmas and we threw our bibs to be there to help find the buck. Now, he bring his wife and they are the most humble people. This is what deer camp is about to me!

I’d have to look at a parcel map, but 2500 give or take. 4 different private landowners and public. It’s about 50/50 private verse public.

We’ve been seeing a lot of spikes and fork horns. It seems like we are squeezing a buck or 2 out each drive, but some years we kill four or five on a drive then don’t kill any for a few drives.

we got word this fall that one landowner in the middle of a drive is going to be selling his parcel. It’s only 40 acres but it will bring that drive to a halt.

CWD sampler just left. Always good to talk to the biologist. We will have all the deer but 2 harvested this year tested for CWD. I should get an accurate count but I think we are around 24 deer. A dozen bucks and the rest does. We have been good about letting spikes and fork horns slide this year but as we get closer to the end sometimes trigger fingers get happy.
