2026 Garden

92 and dry. Been running the sprinkler on the garden and hand watering the flowers. Just ran a hose back to the asparagus patch to soak it good and saw lots of new ferns sprouted. I have a couple small bare spots so hopefully these will live and help fill things in. Most of the ones growing back there are taller than I am already. Nice and straight, too. No rain in the near future.

we've gotten .08 2 days ago, .02 yesterday and today haven't measured but hoping for .02. Hoping for a lot more precipitation this coming weekend.
Well the silly beans that weren't coming are popping up not sure what the other beans will do that I planted in the same bed with the first batch. Carrots are coming up. Waiting on cucumbers and corn now.
How much are you feeding your asparagus? They are heavy feeders like potatoes and corn and need to be fed regular. My asparagus didn't do well this year but it's close to 10 years old. Planted new 2 years ago so will have some good asparagus next spring.
Picked one small cucumber it had started to grow before the transplant and survived. Tomatoes are starting to bloom after I fed them they jumped a good 3-4 inches. Just need the heat to make things grow now.

You might enjoy this. I happened to luck into an elevator ride with Gov. Little today. Our small talk was a weather report from him. “State needs water.”

Several days of 90 here and windy is really drying stuff up. We planted late last week so been watering every night to hopefully get the seeds to germinate. Calling for rain this weekend hope they are right

Its hot as hell here. Humidity through the roof, and all bugs out in full force. Over 3 inches of rain since saturday. Red potatoes were drowning out so I took an empty molasses tub and went ahead and pulled out everything left, probably about 20 pounds. Green beans and cucumbers going nuts (look at that sucker on the right)

Just get some 10 10 10 fertilizer for your garden and feed it. I feed every 20 days or so. But we have very poor soil and have to build the raised beds with mulch, steer manure or horse. I buy a lot of bagged mulch to top off the beds. Miraclegro isn't a good garden feed too much nitrogen. It does work but makes the top grow too much instead of root growing.
I use a local produced feed for tomatoes and peppers and 10-10-10 for the rest of the garden.
brymoore knows the local company it's Dr. Jim Z on the internet and in town it's ZamZows. Expensive products but safe for dogs/animals and kids. Love their lawn fertilizer.

Only got .01 precipitation from yesterday.
Anyone grow Mexican sour cucumbers?
This is the third time I've tried. Totally in the Amish house this season and they are finally growing and setting some blooms.
Some of the tomatoes and peppers and the garden outside. Got all the beds fenced off this morning.
