2026 Garden

Currently fighting a mole or vole. Little jerk is winning presently. I've lost 3 sweet potato slips, 2 green beans plants, 2 onions, 3 dill plants, and one and only broadleaf sage. This is personal.

If you figure out how to kill it please let me know. I haven't put in water lines yet, so im using flood irrigation and the little tunnels stuck up all the water.

Ive lost more than one plant to this thunderfooted mongrel, but hes cute I guess.

Sold all of our gopher traps. Get a mole trap or start flooding him out! You can get a road flare light it stick it down the hole to gas it out.
Yesterdays temp got the outside asparagus again.

This I like, I have an abundance of flares.

I’ve been craving a BLT Sammy for a few weeks. I’ve been tempted to get the ingredients at the store. when I look at the lettuce I doubt my life choices. But when I look at the tomatoes I dry heaves and gag. I’m anxiously waiting garden fresh tomatoes. Probably only 2.5 months until they are in full swing!

Tomatoes are taking up the rear for me so far. User error problem with a late start planting. But I'm awaiting that first mater sammich of the year myself. The stuff dreams are made of.

I had half inch of ice on the bird bath this morning. Running the heater of a night in the greenhouse. I planted my potatoes and onions. Glad they take a while before they sprout.

While illinois doesn't offer much, one thing we do have about 18" of the best dirt there is.

Processed some more asparagus to freeze.

My poor asparagus has froze back twice now. I've gotten one small batch from the ones inside the small hot house. Nice looking spear grass.
