2026 Garden

Last Thursday. Spread the old burn pile dirt/ash on top and worked it in. I'll pick more junk from it after the rains and hit it again. Green beans and sweet corn this year. Been a while.
I feel defeated lol. I probably could've got it done today. But the tiller is at my old man's and I've been lazy lately.

Supposed to break 90 tomorrow. Pretty rough drought here right now. Looks like some heat relief coming this weekend but no rain in sight. Trying to be very strategic with watering.

I did decide to go ahead and plant most of the summer stuff. Roma tomatoes, sunsugars, poblanos, cayennes, Thai birds eye, basil, flowers, and some sage. The onions need to come out and since the garlic didnt really take I may try to put a watermelon plant in that bed.

Lettuce and potatoes are looking great. Squash and beans are up. Everything else just humming along. 20260414_192047.jpg20260414_192044.jpg20260414_192100.jpg

We have been bouncing between mid 20's one night and 38-40 the next. Cold snap coming through tonight and tomorrow, supposed to snow. Hope it doesn't stick around. Garden is tilled, corn squash and potato bed, potatoes are planted. Raised beds have been tilled and chicken manure and peat moss added. Onions planted and garlic planted last October is doing well. Strawberry patch wintered good and the fruit trees are budding out. Hopefully will get the cool weather stuff planted next week. Soil temp is about 55 degrees.

Cold coming in today/tonight and tomorrow. I've got Mexican Sour cucumbers putting runners out still in starter pots. Everything needs to go to the greenhouse and I'll just turn the heat on of a night. Because it all needs to put into bigger pots. Still too cold to go out in the beds.
I haven't put onions or potatoes out yet. Maybe middle of next month. But I do have potatoes coming so that may change. Might have to put the plastic up on the hoops.
