2026 Garden

Thought i would kick us off this year with a winter garden update.

Several different varieties of lettuce going with succession planting as well, lacinato Kale is starting to mature, Savoy cabbage got bit a little by a short freeze, brussel sprouts I just thinned out today for some more elbow room, a row of carrots, and finally some brocolli.

Running out of time before spring and summer plants need to stsrt going in the ground. I just need more room is all.

I just need more room is all.

Couple of truths I've discovered over the years.
1. Burning wood leads to hoarding, always looking for the the next score.
2. Gardening leads to tilling some more ground each year.

Right now all I'm doing in the garden is spreading wood ash.

I need to move my garden. Need a new septic system. I'm going with septic chambers and don't want to run over them with my tractor. Plenty of room to move but I have a high fence to take down.

Looking good. I still have 3 cabbages I haven't cut and the current warm spell has some more broccoli trying to fill out. It might last long enough to get a few decent heads. Starting to look toward spring and make a game plan.

Our greens are off to a good start..... The thing that sucks about having now be the best time for lettuces and such is that I never want to eat lettuces and such in January and February.

Going to start a garden this year. Put some extra topsoil and grass mulch on a 36' x 48' area last year. Will need to fence it this spring to keep the deer out. Snow peas, lettuce, carrots, parsnips, tomatoes, chard, squash, and maybe corn for first year.

Been thinking about adding a larger greenhouse this year… our gardening doesn’t start for 5 months yet…

Already looking at seed catalogs. Need to change up planting houses this year. Things will get moved around big time.

Since a lot of us on here live in northern climates with winter, curious if anyone grows indoors?

If so what. Even if it’s just herbs or salad mix, etc. I’ve been thinking of trying so it’d be nice to hear if folks have success doing it.
