First episode OK, I thought, but loved the Africa stuff. Bror Blixen-Finecke setting with a touch of The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber with a twist. Neat double rifles. Cool Masai spears.

These origin story spin-offs are much better than the show itself.

It was ok, have to wait for more on the 1st of January to see where this goes. But being a big western fan, I just can’t see it topping 1883 with Sam Elliott, Isabel May and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. That was a top notch production, in my opinion. This may be just as good once it gets going as he has done a great job with Yellowstone too.
