Well, it was twelve years ago that I got let go from a drafting job and no one had a position open for a man without a college degree, but 18 years of experience. So I bought a drafting table and other supplies and rented a 300 sf. office and started Geological Drafting Consultants. My first month I think I grossed around $300! It slowly grew until I bought a CAD system, hired a good draftsman, that had lost his job in the same manner as I had. We now have state of the art equipment and 3 part time draftsmen to help us keep up with more work than you can shake a stick at. Now, if I could find a way to open a satilite office in the west I would have it made! ;)

Hmmm any other draftsman on this board?

Congrats Draftstud, you've conquered the American dream!

That's pretty impressive, Stud. I've thought about going out on my own several times, but just can't cut the chord. Congrats on your 12 years of success!!! :D
