    Pagosa Springs camping?

Looking to go to Pagosa for some turkey hunting, just curious if anyone knows of some dispersed camping spots within Pagosa? I have seen a few pull-offs on CoTrex that look suitable.

The veil has been opened! 1/11

I’m skunked on Turkey this far. Been down near the springs and up near Estes and I haven’t even heard a gobble or seen many signs of Turkey. Hope you’re doing better than I am!

    Lanai Axis Hunt 2023

Appreciate the feedback Gents. Good ideas around the board. I am going to keep brainstorming and make this happen. Hopefully between now and then I can connect with a Lanai resident for a hookup.

    Lanai Axis Hunt 2023

Hey Y'all, Any frequent Lanai Axis hunters who can give some advice? Going for my first-time next year. Me and two buddies just applied for the Lanai Stateside hunt in February 2023. A few issues/questions. The permit/tag process is easy and cheap. Everything else isn't. I don't have any...

Your Top FOUR Features for Hunting Pack (Not Brand Specific) Who else has thoughts?

    1. A durable frame that will flex, like carbon fiber. I used a steel frame for years thinking it was the best, until I got a carbon fiber frame. Lighter, and had slight flex to move with me. 2. Compression features. I hate a loose pack. Whether I am using it as a day pack or a multi day pack, I...

Necessary gear for first western hunt.

I believe sock selection is as important as boot selection. Darn Tough Merino Wool socks are the best out there. I have used Darn Toughs for long treks through the mountains of N. Georgia and Colorado, and they are my go to for mountain goat hunts here in Hawaii. A good pair of socks can ensure...

    Foot pain

I have spent more time on my feet than I'd like to. I generally do 7-10 Miles a day due to my job. Aside from investing in high quality footwear (boots for me) and insoles that are meant for your type of foot, here are some things I do that keep me going. As soon as I wake up in the morning I...

    Good Practice

Is gopher any good? I've got mongoose and chickens running rampant and will sling arrows at them all day.

    Broadhead Selection

I started off with slick tricks. I liked how I could replace the blades, but after a while they just didn't seem to do the trick. I started hunting hogs and I noticed I wasn't blowing through front shoulders, a couple of the broadheads I pulled out of them were bent and I was discouraged. I...

Open invitation to hunt Maui, Hawaii

The goat hunts on Oahu are super fun. The meat is good too.

Anyone use the spot hog fast eddie hunting?

I use the Spott Hogg triple stack, super good sight. Hunting and target shooting, reaching out pretty far. I like having 3 pins so I don't have to adjust if an animal is 20-40 yards away but being able to slide out to 40-60+ if I have a good shot and stalking closer isn't an option.

    Solid Broadheads?

I've been shooting Montec G5 steel broadheads for years now. Super easy to sharpen, I use sharpening stones with different grits to really hone the edge. I only have to buy more when I lose arrows.

Shot them all, bought the Hoyt

I had a PSE Inertia for a while. PSE customer service and warranty was great, I just hated how often I had to use it. Went through multiple sets of limbs before they replaced the bow. I sold it and moved to Mathews. I enjoyed the power of PSE, but not reliable.

    Hello from Hawaii

What’s up y’all. New to the thread, ran across this site and enjoyed the amount of help everyone offered. I’ve been in Hawaii for the last 5 years with my wife and kids, we’re both in the military. I have been bow hunting consistently for 4 years now, although I was introduced to it 15 years...
