The BLRs changed to an aluminum receiver in 1996 and are easy to carry now. this .30-06 was my first owned deer rifle. Bought new in 1996. Shot 9 deer with open sights. 4 with the little 2.5 x luepold. Shot several of those deer on the run. Very fast to shoot all 5 rounds on a deer drive. The...
My daughters doe this year took a good hit to both the neck and a bullet through the eye with a .243 and was still on its feet. Needed a third shot to the chest to drop it. Apparently just missed both the spine and brain.
Posted my leverguns last year in this thread. But Ive always liked the looks of stainless guns as well. And the Tikka fits into the classy rifle category for me. Super smooth action, great balance, and as accurate as I can hold on any given day. This ones a 6.5 creed. After laughing at all the...
Pretty darn good season again this year. Opening morning I was sitting in my stand early watching shooting stars. Started seeing movement by the woods early. About 7:45 I saw a buck 300 yards off and tried a shot using my trigger sticks. Blew the shot as just wasnt enough room in the stand to...
Mine also shoot federal blue box 100 grain very well. And Winchester deer season XP’s but they blow up on any bone. Havnt tried the Hornady whitetail but the 129s shoot great in my Tikka 6.5 creed.
My 12 year old daughter drug it home from school at thanksgiving. Luckily we didnt go anywhere then to spread it. I did end up spreading it to my dad during farm work before I knew I had it. He spread it to my mom and uncle.
She had a fever for an hour and was feeling a lot better the next day...
Have you shot the Axis rifles? Amazing for the price. We have 4 of them and all shoot under an inch at 100 yards with factory ammo. The .243’s consistently shoot at 3/4 inch with federal trophy copper. And as I’ve said before, I don’t bench shoot rifles much these days. They’re capable of better.
I just looked at scheels in Fargo, ND this past weekend. They have a ton of Tikkas and Christensen armsand only a few x-bolts. Anyways I like all 3 of these but still like the Tikka the best. Havnt shot the other 2 but the Tikka has not disappointed me. $799 there- were $750 a year ago.
Yes, they’re great guns. My moms hunted with a 1988 model for decades. With a crappy 4x scope and see through mounts. Havnt hunted with mine since 2009 when we no longer hunted a brushy area. Shot 6 deer in the 4 years I used it including this memorable hunt.
I remember from the Marlin forum somebody saying they used softer screws from China but other than that? After the Remington buyout is when everything went totally to hell.
