The big 18 and adult things?

Lopehunter already said it, but everything in moderation. If you aren’t already addicted to nicotine, don’t start - I have way too many friends with a can of Zyn in their desk, their truck, their nightstand, and everywhere else you can imagine. And avoid gambling on your phone. If you want to...

Seth Bodnar - independent US Senate candidate

I think the lesson in your experience vs Montana is the same - single party rule where the only competitive races are primaries are bad for everyone, regardless of how ideologically you align with either party.

Seth Bodnar - independent US Senate candidate

This is the real kicker. The two parties get all the hate, but the truth is it's the super PACs controlling the direction of the parties. It sure as hell wasn't the RNC that sunk Cornyn, if they had their way they sure wouldn't have sunk $100M into picking the candidate they would have to...

What are you guys paying for gas?

Back over $4/gal here after a couple weeks in the $3.85 range.

    Changes to ESA rules

I contend the ESA is like spanking your kids. For listed species, it does one thing (actually spanking), but for species at risk of listing, the threat of spanking is still effective.

    Changes to ESA rules

I think the encumbrances that come with an animal being listed has resulted in a lot of work to prevent animals from being listed; it's harder to point to something that theoretically would have happened without the ESA, but sage grouse seems like a good example. There are a bunch of hurdles to...

    Trump Account thoughts

Based on my personal experience, I agree with the opinion that helping a child obtain education/job training without crippling debt and helping open the door to homeownership are two of the biggest things to give your kids a chance to build their own healthy retirement. Probably the biggest...

    Trump Account thoughts

My 3-week-old will get the $1000 and I’m pretty sure my 2 1/2-year-old will qualify for the $250, but I don’t anticipate putting in any more than that. Even being comfortably upper-middle-class and lucking into buying a house before the COVID surge, it still gets pretty complicated to put extra...

    Daines Senate Seat 2026

And it's only going to get worse with the NRSC vs FEC ruling.

What is the wait time going to be for suppressor approval starting 1/1/2026?

It's worth having them check - it's possible that it's been approved and they weren't notified. My trust application was approved in ~18 days but I wound up getting the can after about 40 because of not being emailed.

What is the wait time going to be for suppressor approval starting 1/1/2026?

Are you going through a local store? I would reach out and have them check on the status - mine was approved but me and my FFL never received emails. This was a local store with a SilencerShop kiosk handling a transfer, and my SilencerShop account also was still just showing "submitted."

    Daines Senate Seat 2026

He had my vote the moment he announced as an independent, but I think one of the attacks that will come (despite it being a pot calling the kettle black situation) is dark money support - I would be interested in hearing him answer how he won’t be beholden to the same special interests that pull...

    Art of The Deal

If there’s one thing that wouldn’t surprise me coming out of this, it would be a good chunk of that $300B in our tax dollars building a few Trump golf course resorts in Iran.

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

On the Figma IPO, I got all 5 I requested at $33. Sold 2 at $100 right after IPO and held 3 (which was dumb, but I’m still up $100 on the whole deal). One thing I don’t know, if I requested 100 of SpaceX, would I have gotten 20 or still just 1. Guess we’ll never know.

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

Yep. On Robinhood you request shares and based on how many they’re given and how many are requested, your order is partially filled (or in one case not filled at all) at the initial offering price. I got one share of the 5 I requested at $135 and just sold at $163. They say IPO flipping risks...

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

I put in for 5 shares, we’ll see if I’m allocated any. I think there are so many fanboys it’s going to jump up from the initial offering price and I’ll sell any I get before trading closes. Unfortunately I’ll have long-term exposure in ETF’s because of the Nasdaq shenanigans but other than that...

Thinking about getting a pellet grill

I have a Grilla vertical smoker and absolutely love it, but I think our use cases are pretty different - if you aren’t making lots of sausage the pellet grill is probably more convenient to use than the vertical. All that being said, my .02 is that the more long cooks with specific temp targets...

    Sell me a bed cover

I’ve had the roll-up canvas type - less secure and doesn’t look as clean but pretty handy overall. I’ve had a tri-fold - looked really nice and more secure but wasn’t easily removable (removing in itself wasn’t terrible, but reinstalling required a lot of little tweaks to align everything every...

    6.5 Creedmoor Peak

Depending on price, I’ll see how it shoots in my Howa Superlite. I don’t reload anyways so a few hundred fps for free if it groups well seems like an easy choice.
