I have a 10 twist that is great for 120-140s. I would think an 11 twist would be fine for long 120s and normal length 140s but would not want to buy it for the longer 140s might shoot them fine, but might not.
Are you sure about the 11 twist? That would be for a very specific use to use that.
Have never tracked a CNS shot regardless of cartridge used. I've also had one of my longest tracking jobs be from a .375 H&H.
I'd worry more about bullet quality and placement than I would about what name is stamped on the case or the diameter of the bullet.
Most everyone says a .243 is great...
We have alarms on some things at work. I work nights by myself. People come in at 6AM and ask me how long the alarms have been going off. I always reply with what alarm? It’s not my fault they are the same pitch as my tinnitus.
I spend a lot of time out of cell phone range, and quite frankly am not married to my phone like many are. The inreach gives me the ability to text if I want to. It allows my wife to see in real time where I am. It also gives me the ability to get real help if I need it, as most of my time is...
New one to me this week.
Checked in to a hotel. An hour or so after checking in got a call on the room phone. Guy said he was the night manager and the person checking me in had forgot to add my payment info for incidentals. Apologized for the inconvenience and said a 30% discount would be...
Taking things out of context to justify preconceived ideas isn't a new thing, but it does seem to be the primary weapon of the left when it comes to Kirk. Much like what Stephen King did a few days ago. Take something out of context and try to make it into something you know is not true to...
How is that a new twist? Kids generally rebel against their parents at some point, especially college aged. Not even close to being the first time parents and children have different ideology.
There's a reason politics are not discussed at many family functions.
A lot of that is encouraging them into careers that pay well but don't require 60+ hour weeks. As you say, there's only so much time, and work is not where you should be spending it.
I think my daughter got the picture. She's an ER MD and works 10 shifts a month. Has plenty of time for hunting...
I think the hard part is knowing when enough is enough. Some get caught up in the pursuit of wealth and lose sight of any other goals. My kids have always been a huge part of my hunting life. I enjoy spending time with them, and hunting and other outdoor pursuits has been the best way to do it...
Other than the military, I've found jobs that had more time off and the ability to take leave when desired. I use all my leave in the fall. Family vacations are scheduled around hunting seasons. At least one summer vacation is an extended camping/scouting trip.
For the last 17 years I have...
That's what I have. Got the corners from JCSteel. Use electrical conduit for the legs and a piece of rebar for the cross bar. Fits in the back of the Bronco or truck and I can set up and take down in minutes anywhere. I have 4 different AR500 targets and use either chain or conveyor belt to...
Got out this Wednesday morning and shot these Bowens. Happy to say they are great shooters. Well regulated sights and tight groups. Even did a little .38-55 shooting as it seemed to fit.
Some days I shoot better than other days, regardless of the rifles ability.
I'm primarily a hunter and not a target shooter. I stopped shooting groups many years ago. Now I shoot steel targets in the field from field conditions. Most of my targets are 10 inches or less. I either hit or I don't...
It is Wednesday, and I just picked these up on my way to work tonight. A couple of single-sixes worked over by Bowen in 22lr and 32H&R.
Will get some better pictures in natural light next week.
This is how they looked a year ago. Both from the mid 80s.
I agree and disagree. Big game hunts for the trophy animals can certainly be costly, but many of us put meat in the freezer economically. My kids and I put 4-8 deer in the freezer that are killed less than 6 miles from the house. We process the meat ourselves. A license cost $25. I'm definitely...
