    Rookie in A zone

Happy to report I was finally successful this weekend in harvesting my first buck. Wow what an amazing feeling... With public lands all shut down I thought I was out of luck until a friend of mine offered to take me out on his ranch. I couldn’t thank him enough.

    Rookie in A zone

Hi everyone, This is my first year deer hunting and so far I’ve been 100% on my own. I live in San Luis Obispo county “A zone” and only have access to public land. I have all of the basic gear needed for local day hunts. So far out of the five different times I’ve gone out I’ve only seen 1...

    Hunting/hiking boots

Thank you everyone for the suggestion. There is an REI very close to home but that’s all and their selection is very limited I think b/c of the area I live in. I’m thinking I’m going to just have to order online and just order a few to find what I like. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

    Hunting/hiking boots

So I’m having a hard time choosing which pair of boots to buy. Crispi Colorado GTX or Crispi Nevada’s ... I would like to find an all around boot. Meaning a boot I can wear when hunting here in state A, D, zones and hopefully someday X9A or B 😁. I would also like to wear this pair of boots when...

    Hunting/hiking boots

Thank you for the info. I live in San Luis Obispo county and unfortunately we really don’t have any stores that will carry any of those brands. Even for my work boots I have to order a couple pair to see what fits best. Then send the boots I don’t want back.

    Electronics scope

same Here about the website. I like the idea and technology behind this system. I was just hoping someone might have some info or know where to find if it’s legal or not to use in CA. If it’s not legal to hunt with it’s no big deal I’ll just continue looking for a new scope for my Weatherby Mark...

    Electronics scope

I am interested in the Sig Sauer BXD scope/rangefinder system. I am just not sure if this system would be legal to use for hunting in CA b/c it’s adding something battery powered to the rifle. Hoping someone can share their knowledge or point me in the right direction to find the answer...

New guy from Central Coast, CA

Wow, thank you everyone for the warm welcome and all of the advice. So I got my .308 out of the safe and put it on the scale.. I would say it’s on the heavy side at 11.2 lbs unloaded. It’s a Rem700 SPS Tactical w/20” heavy barrel and I put it on a Magpul hunter stock. Picture attached. Like I...

New guy from Central Coast, CA

Hi everyone, Nick here from the Central Coast, CA. I haven’t ever hunted but plan on next year 2020 going on my first deer hunt. To make a long story very short I didn’t grow up hunting b/c my dad didn’t hunt, he was big into fishing. We fished both fresh & salt water. I had registered for the...
