    Glishing?

Fun trip with the Grandma Grandson. A 1st grader can eat his weight in snacks, jerky and fried eggs. Buddy was generous enough to lend me use of his Ice Castle. Getting a nice collection of slot Walleyes. 18” pictured.

    Bolt Action Rimfire

I’ve been thinking I should get a solid .22 rifle. Been getting by with a semi auto Marlin for quite a while, it’s an okay plinke, w/ lousy sights and a receiver dove tail that won’t hold a scope in place for love nor money. I lean towards one of the CZ Trainer types, or the Tikka. My...

    Moving scope positions

For better or worse I’ve settled on QR rings and Piccatinny rails. My question is this. Can I move the scope back in winter and forward in summertime to account for clothing without POI issues?

    6.5 Grendel

If I’m not going AR is there really a reason to chase this round? One of these days the kid is going to be needing a rifle to do what kids do, “shoot deers” 😂. I like the low recoil, fun target gun. I have more faith in it than a .223, sorry but that’s the way it is. The 7.65x39 is another...

    Mule deer vs Elk habitat

This coming fall I’ll be hunting 2nd rifle in CO. Is it reasonable to expect both mule deer and elk sharing the same space? This will be new territory for me, and the mule deer a new opportunity. Carrying a ~$500 tag around “just in case” isn’t a good use of my resources. Elk are the focus...

    Scoping my Vanguard 2

I’ve started this project w/ a Leupold VX3i Warne Bases, and medium QR rings. The scope has the turret cut for 200 zero 257 Weatherby, 110g Accubond at 3250fps. Having zeroed it at 200yds I run out of elevation in about a quarter turn, 460yds. Being honest that’s as far as I’d normally feel...
