Alright guys, just need some input on my dream hunt here long story that I'll try and make sort of short a very good friend of mine and I have been talking about doing an archery mountain goat hunt for the last 5 years but I truly have no idea where to start on this, states, units, best times to...
I heard rumors that if you want to draw an unlimited tag it must be a first choice now? Can anyone verify that, because what I usually do is put in on a trophy unit with my first choice ( lol I never draw anyways) and than use the second choice for an unlimited in an area I know well and usually...
I hunted on POW back in 2013 unguided in November when the deer rut up there and wow what a lot of fun just have to do your research going unguided is the way to go IMO
Here is my view on it, long range I am totally fine with the guys that practice the ranges often know how the round is going to perform at each distance, know the ballistics of the round and honestly give a damn about if they're gonna wound or not, as a diehard Bowhunter now after years of rifle...
Hate to be that guy but I am highly doubting that deer came off of a DIY public land area I personally think for a buck to get that size he wouldn't make it that long to be that big with about shooting him so my guess private land grown over feed just like some whitetails but that's just my opinion
With my current black gold multi pin set up I can practice out past 100 yards but saying that I would never take a shot past 60 yards my furthest shot was in the high country of utah on a mule deer at 52 yards and I pinwheeled him due to practice that was a chip shot to me it felt like elks a...
Agreed not trying to sound like an ass or anything but it's not hard to find deer out there just spend some time out there and find a good buck plenty of nice deer out there, I wouldn't shoot anything below a 170 even though that unit definately has some 200 inch deer in it
Well I only bow hunt and I've only taken 3 elk
Cow: 26 yards
Bull: 37 yards
Cow this year: 18 yards all ranged in pretty thick timber but had good shooting lanes
Average: 27 yards according to the math
I have a 2013 hoyt charger poundage is 55-65 limbs set at 28.5 inches long used for two seasons Ripcord rest, axcel 5 pin sight, 6 inch b-stinger, and a tight spot quiver I'm having trouble attaching pictures if interested send me a PM 800 obo
I've about had it with these wolves I don't know about the rest of the idaho residents but I'll be spending a lot of time this year trying to knock one down
Here in idaho my bow hunting outfit is basically a long sleeve sitka shirt a 90% jacket mountain pants and beanie gloves and facemask hasn't failed me yet love the gear and will continue to buy it
