2023 controlled hunts
Wife and I drew Colorado Bend management deer. 1st draw in a decade of applying in TX for us. Anyone hunt Colorado Bend? Are compartments assigned via a draw at check-in? -

ND Game and Fish coming under fire for CWD Management
Plenty of 10 acre food plots in Missouri, and the same BS. Although we couldn't ever bait during season(luckily.) No mineral allowed outside of season now to to CWD management. I'm not necessarily saying work for a taxidermist. I paid for 2 weeks of 1 on 1 with a taxidermist that has been in business for 30 years. It cost me a third of the school you mentioned above. I've seen 1 case locally where a guy went to one of those schools that teach birds, gameheads...- redwoood

Just my 2 cents. I would find someone to get 1 on 1 training with. That is the route I took. Those schools seem to cram in too much too fast IMO. Find a master taxidermist and go train with them. It really speeds up the learning curve. Start in 1 area like game heads for example. Join your...- redwoood

Raccoons
We're overrun with them as well. Caught several in cat sets last winter. We skinned and put up the first one just to show the Boyd how it's done. The rest fed the coyotes(which need thinned out too.) Talked to a buddy that traps a lot of cats and coyotes. Asked him what he does and he says...- redwoood

Couple more mounts ready to go home.
Did a bit of finish work today. Last customer cat and only 7 more deer after this one. 5 more days til archery season here in MO. Hopefully they'll start rolling back in!- redwoood

Another MO cat ready to go home.
Just finished up another Missouri bobcat. He's actually a good looking cat for this area. He had been in a grain sack in a deep freezer for 2½ years. His face was freezer burnt real bad and I wasn't sure he was salvageable. Those freezerburnt ears are hard to turn!- redwoood
