Decided to use the last of our cold nights to make something new. I put up 20lbs of old fashioned cold smoked breakfast sausage and some buckboard bacon.
When my brother told us he was having #3, our friend that overheard told him "Don't quit your job. You'd never make it as a truck driver if you can't pull out on time". Hahaha
AL- no tags. Deer checked with app. 3 bucks per license. 3rd buck must have 4 on 1 side. Some public land hunts offer bonus bucks that don't count toward total. 1 antlerless per day in most units. Season runs 15-Oct- 10-Feb. So for my zone the total would be 3 bucks, 119 antlerless
100s of hours of watching bear hunts to get better at field judging payed off, with me shooting the 1st average bear I saw. Haha. But it had a beautiful hide. Hot temps made things tough, but the group went 3/3. My wife schooled all of us catching big fish. Overall a great trip, can't wait to go...
Our go to recipes are trout picatta and smoked.
We the use the smoked trout for trout cakes and trout dip/spread. The spread is good over bagels with red onion, tomatoes, and capers.
You can Google these recipes or I'm happy to send specifics.
Our group has a hunt booked in N Ontario 1st week of June. It can't get here soon enough. No cell phones, no work, only issues will be catching enough fish to fry every day and how big of a bear to hold out for (I hope).
They did. I wish they had compared multiple brands. But if you look at bullet construction, most manufacturers have a counterpart to the models listed.
Excellent article on terminal ballistics on a variety of types of bullet construction. With expanding non-toxic use, it is interesting to see manufactures data compared to field reports on it's limitations...
Does it happen? Absolutely. Is it limiting eagle recovery, no.
I used to volunteer at one of the largest raptor hospitals in the SE. Birds were flown in from across the country. Eagles came in with botulism from cropping up too much, transmission line electrocutions, gunshots, vehicle strikes...
I'm sure you are right. Most tragic stories don't just happen overnight.
Honestly, I'm just glad I don't have to deal with those situations all the time. But it was shocking to how rampant the problem over there was 1st hand.
Like has been mentioned in some previous posts, I live in Alabama...
I'm sure there are lots of examples that go both ways. I had a timber sale last year right outside of Atlanta. We had to clear a homeless camp before starting. 1 middle aged woman we removed was a victim of domestic abuse. She lived in a tent, showering in the campground, and worked a full time...
This year I upgraded my rangefinder and picked up a leupold rx1400i. I wanted one that should allow me to shoot terrain at longer distances to plan stalks.
Initial impressions are great. To be a cheap base model, it would routinely pick up animals and terrain out past 1000yds. The other guy...
