    Environmentalists vs. Conservationists

I tell my kids that an environmentalist is worried a out the individual animal, and that a conservationist is worried about the herd.

    Found?

Strangest thing I have come upon is a memorial to a deceased person located at the 6000' level in a wilderness area of the Olympic Mtns. There was a piece of polished granite with his name on it and engraved with something like "May he rest in peace in hunter's heaven". There were also some...

    Truck tires

I just put on Toyo HT Tuff Duties on my F350 and love them. In your situation, with more off roading, I would go to a Toyo M-55. They are the go to tire for loggers in my area and have a bullet proof reputation. They are pricey though.

    What scope??

I have had Leupold scopes on all of my rifles since the 1960's. About two years ago I purchased a new rifle, and in the process of picking out a scope for it compared a Leupold to a Zeiss Conquest. To my eyes the Conquest won hands down. My new rifle wears a Conquest. As it turns out, I had to...

    Leupold/Zeiss part 2

I just got my Zeiss Conquest scope back from warranty work. Other than taking a long time (3 months), and not knowing when they would complete it, and not being able to get good status on the repair, it was repaired. They do carry a lifetime warranty, just like Leupold, and I think you can...

Leupold vs Zeiss, meopta, other euro scopes.

Heartofhunter, I think you made a good choice. In my case I went the other way. I was looking for a scope for a new Winchester 7mm-08 last year and looked thru both, a Conquest and a Leupold. The Conquest to my eyes was considerably brighter and I liked the reticle a little better. Leupolds have...

Sportsman Channel now available in NY/NJ area with Cablevision!

Ladysportsman, even though you say that Directv carries you, it only does so if you subscribe to a higher end package. I would like to see Directv offer you a-la-carte like they do the Outdoor Channel. I am disenchanted with the Outdoor Channel, but I like what I see in the Sportsman's Channel...

    Im moving!!!

Congrats on the new job. You will find a lot of opportunities here for hunting, and being on the coast - great fishing. The weather is mild, but is often gray and wet, You can escape the wet by just going east of the cascade mountains. The only thing I don't like about deer and elk hunting is...

    Scope for big game

I have been a Leupold man my whole life -- until I needed a scope for a new rifle. Checked the Leupold next to a Zeiss Conquest. And as they say, the rest is history. That new rifle now wears a Zeiss.

Your questions about Sportsman Channel - bring 'em here

Ladysportsman, could you work on DIRECTV to offer the Sportsman's Channel as ala-cart, like they do the Outdoor Channel? I currently get the Outdoor Channel, but would like to cancel and switch to the Sportsman's Channel. They do offer your channel, but I have to step up to a much more pricey...

    Zeiss scopes

I got a Zeiss Conquest to put on a new Winchester Featherweight in 7mm-08 last year. For the last 50 years I have used Leupolds exclusively and they have never failed me. When I was scope shopping for the new rifle, I was impressed with the clarity and brightness of the Zeiss over the Leupold...

    Wild Within on Travel Channel

I also watched and enjoyed the Travel Channel show. To me and my hunting buddies, a hunting trip is an adventure. Any show that focuses on the "adventure" aspects of the hunt is one that I will watch with great enthusiasm. The adventure starts with the planning of the trip including scouting...
