A lot depends on the type of hunting you do, distances you shoot and if strictly a 'deer gun' or something to scale up to other game. If it were me, I'd go Leupold all day, every day. Sounds like you have the budget part figured out pretty closely. I figure around $1200 for a trip, not including tag. Gas is usually $600 - $700 depending on vehicle milage, cost of gas, etc. I plan on $100 each way for food, another $300 for a hotel room the night I get out to where I'm going...- deer_shooter
