    Gobble gobble Spring Turkey 2025

Soil that has sand and rock will gradually grind the spurs with some gobblers I have shot having a corn kernel of a spur. A lot of scratching into the ground by turkey feet to find bugs, acorns, etc.

Asset management and or Private equity invesments

The five year return of VGT vs VOO is not exciting me enough to move off being mostly in VOO and VTI which are less heavy into tech sector than VGT though is a lot of tech valuation in VOO and VTI these days. I am smitten for a couple of decades with the large bucket, diversified ETFs very low...

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

Rising Inflation? Rising unemployment? Economic contraction? Less trust from other countries including those generally aligned with our economic and military goals? Boosting China's ability to claim are a reliable trading partner? But, sure, if go back far enough is a wash on S&P 500 valuation...

    January Inflation

What is the amount of Tariff that was placed on Russia? America did $3 billion of trade with Russia. So, just using what was levied on imports from Canada would be a start. But, China might be a better comparison. Let’s see. Using the formula which Trump explained then 40% would be needed...

    January Inflation

China needs to sell things. America is an important destination for Chinese production though is a declining percentage as look back over the past decade. This has been done intentionally by China where the leadership decides export policy down to a granular level which is much different than...

    Quotable Quotes

Three ways to get rich. Earn it. Inherit it. Marry it. The hardest way is marrying it because that family will never respect you as anyone of value.

    January Inflation

Where do you see inflation, at this moment, is headed any way but UP? I expect 5% inflation rate by January of next year and unemployment to be up by then and residential real estate value to be less by then. Economic output will have constricted. That will mean stagflation is highly likely...

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

I prefer gambling at a casino rather than options. I know what my potential maximum loss is at a casino. With puts, potential maximum loss is astronomical unless doing straddles. Can you outperform the S&P 500 over a decade with your system, net of fees? At what risk? I am rich now and do not...

I just need a few tips on turkey hunting

I have never placed any of the reflectors but hunted a buddy's property (so was not public lands) and he had the reflectors hanging on bushes and limb tips using a twist connector. There is a lot of deadfall, knee-high bushes and patches of brambles as make your way through 100 yards of hardwood...

    MALA and your money

I don't see how a future 3-28-2028 stock market valuation which is not adjusted so is apples to apples 3-28-2025 values. Not even sure a stock index is the measure to show whether your neighbors are better off in 36 months than today. Not everyone owns stocks. Or a house. Or a car. We all eat...

    MALA and your money

Are the 03.28.2028 valuations adjusted for inflation and devaluation of the $US for the 36 months?

    MALA and your money

Stock valuations can veer far from technical projections. People do not have to act rationally. If profits fall due to inflation pressures on components used by manufacturers or tariffs taxes that American companies are assessed yet can’t fully pass on to buyers then that should reduce stock...

    Your dog’s quirk?

Very wholesome thread. Especially considering is off-season other than spring turkey. Have we all been hacked and replaced with polite AI?

    January Inflation

I will add that most my buddies that went into the construction trades, residential and commercial, did quite well for the time I was in college, working 5 years then grad school. By age 40, I was doing quite well and several of the plumbers/electricians/roofers were walking a bit humped over...

    Should trail cams be legal?

No opinion on fair chase. Strong opinion on desecrating and littering on public land. Game cams, stands, etc are left to rot in some cases. If is sunset on public land, pirate law is a way to get rid of trash.

    Should trail cams be legal?

You knew the buck existed. Not sure why that reduces your odds of a harvest. That is very useful information. You might note patterns re time of day or night for buck activity. You eliminate quadrants, perhaps miles apart, where game cams are showing minimal activity of mature bucks. Public land...

Don't let an accident become a tragedy

The loudest two sounds are a click when expect a bang and a bang when not firing. I dislike trusting other hunters to manage where their muzzle points as are hiking, to have the safety on then check to see if got bumped, keep finger out of the trigger guard unless are ready to squeeze a round...

Roth vs. Trad IRA Benefits - even from converting LATE?! (like 70 y/o late)

You have 10 years to withdraw the Roth funds that were passed to you at death by a non-spouse. These withdrawals leave the Roth and can’t be rolled to your personal Roth or Trad IRA. These withdrawals have left the IRA ecosystem. You can use the funds taken from that Roth as a distribution to...

Roth vs. Trad IRA Benefits - even from converting LATE?! (like 70 y/o late)

Is the goal to leave the Roth accounts as a Legacy? Family tax planning can be wrecked if leave Traditional IRA to someone that is in a higher Federal plus State combined marginal tax bracket than you. An example, you are 62 and will leave to an offspring aged 38. You are at 25% combined...

I just need a few tips on turkey hunting

If you are headed to the same spot repeatedly then can attach tiny reflectors along the trail/path then use a headlamp with a red-light set to very low level and the reflectors will glow back at you. If are not heading to the same spot each morning then use a red headlamp light.
