    Taking a back up rifle?

Nope. I figure you can always borrow one or buy another. Just one more thing to be concerned about while left unattended.

Places to visit in Wisconsin & Michigan on the Great Lakes

We've got a lake house on a chain a few miles east of Traverse City, know the area well. Do the north shore of the UP and hit all cool spots along lake Superior. Inland in the UP, check out Tahquamenon falls and Kitchitikipi spring. In northern LP, check out Sleeping Bear Dunes, the Leelanau...

    Fenwick Rods

It's been a few years but I sent in a broken Fenwick and got it replaced rather quickly, only charge was for the shipping.

    Good Michigan Trip

Just got back from Northern Michigan, did a week on Beaver Island. Fishing on the inland lakes was great.

    Paint garage floor?

I'm a fan of just finishing the concrete with a real hard, burned in, slick trowel finish. It looks good, is very durable and cleans up easily. Hard to do a good job of it if using fibermesh, need to reinforce with welded wire. If you go the epoxy route, hire a pro. As others have said...

    North Yellowstone Flooding

I don't live in the west but hear about all the drought problems year after year. Will this flooding and excess water replenish some of the reservoirs where water was badly needed and be beneficial later this summer?

    Funny Autocorrect/Autotype Stories

Our local Elks lodge has a women's group called Elkettes. Asked a buddy and wife to go to supper one evening and he texted back, "we can't make it, wife has Hellcats this evening" We decided that sounded more appropriate anyway.

    Can I afford it?

Great explanation above. It's really just about math. Run the numbers yourself.

Anybody else have spare scopes for thier Hunting Rifles

I'm kinda in this camp. 50+ years of hunting all over North America and haven't needed a spare scope or rifle yet. In the event something bad happened to a rifle, in most cases you could borrow one from somebody else in camp or run to town and get another. If you're remote hunting solo, you...

    Financing A Second Home

I knew it varied wildly from state to state, but that is insane. Pre ACA / Obamacare I could have purchased similar insurance to what we have on the private market for about $600 per month (40% less).

    Will inflation affect your hunts?

Won't stop me from going, it will just cost more.

    Financing A Second Home

Wow ! Ours was $18k last year and $12k this year (ages 59 & 62) for ACA health insurance based on income NTE $150k. I though that was pretty ridiculous.

    Financing A Second Home

I've never heard of health insurance in excess of $25k ? Did I read that correctly?

    Yellowstone

Have made it thru 6-7 episodes of 1883 so far. Good flick, but I suspect the amount of murdering and killing is way overstated. Guessing the elements and environment would have been a lot harder on the settlers than gunfire?

    Financing A Second Home

Borrow -vs- pay cash for a home gets kicked around quite a bit with the relatively low interest rate environment. If you really truly believe that your money in the market is assured a return considerably higher than what a mortgage loan will cost you, then why haven't we all been borrowing...

    Time For A New Mattress

At the hunting cabin we built simple 2x framed beds with plywood bottoms and cheap mattresses, no box springs. I sleep better on those firm beds than I do on our expensive bed at home. It's either because of the firm plywood base, or just because I'm in hunting camp?
