    Fall bear...

I'm really getting excited reading all these posts & talk of a "hunt talk" POW trip. My Aunt lives in Bellingham and when I go to visit, I drive down to the ferry terminal, park the car and watch the explorers load drive onto the boat. I just love the thought of going up there, and would credit...

    I really stink at this!

I finally got a truck that works! YEAH! I've got a super trip this weekend, Bouy 10 for Salmon! Got invited, for three days, ride to and from and three nights in a motel...I'm stoked! My next Bear attempt will probably be in the Blues when it opens there. I live 45 miles from hunting if I go...

    I really stink at this!

4th year in a row, trying specificly to hunt bear, and still have not seen one. Not even at a great distance. This opening weekend, acting on a tip, I hunted Juniper Mountain, south of Randle. I can personally guarantee that there are NO bears in that area. Loads of rip berries, Blue berries...

    Washington Bears

Redrider, My Aunt and Uncle live RIGHT across the river from the Church camp. I've glassed the hill on that side, looking for anything to move. Every now and then seeing cattle over there, loads of geese & many beavers. Haven't seen a bear yet...the USAF survival school is right there too, we...

What did ya learn this past season

I used my new 300 wsm this year, and I learned NOT to shoot deer @ 60 yards with it. I was using Winchester loaded Failsafe 180's and hit a rib. It created the most damage I've ever had. Good clean shot, went straight down, but man did I have to do some cutting. Wife shot a deer with the same...

    Washington Bears

Raybow 1, Benton City is by the Tri-Cities, SE corner of the state. Pretty close to the Blue Mountains, but they're all but a waste of time anymore...too many people like the dry hunting conditions. I can usually go anywhere in the State for 3 days max, unless I get lucky and can get some time...

    Washington Bears

Kraven, I was going to ask what the best access was to the hunt..."Cpost Road"? I've been going over the map (gazetteer) of this area. I'm going to get a better map, but for now I'm wondering if there's a road number, or a description of the access? I'll do everything in my power to spend some...

    Washington Bears

Horn Seeker, Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU! I've hunted in that general area for over 10 years but never those two places. I'll check them out and even if I don't get a bear, I'll at-least have seen some new country... Oh, and...Thank you!

    Washington Bears

I'm definately going to put in for Spring season in the Blues. I used to hunt Elk in the Blues. But then there got to be too many people. My wife and I used to (before kids, more time) hunt archery and we'd camp on Chase Mountain. Then the Bear hounds started overrunning the place and after...

    Washington Bears

Horn Seeker, I do indeed travel to Pend Oreille country. My uncle lives at Rivers Bend, so my wife and I have, both, bow and rifle hunted around there. I've found that area void of open hills. We've found fantastic bear sign but it's always in the deepest cover, or in the middle of the road...

    Washington Bears

I was going to try hunting Idaho this year, then lost my job. I'd saved up enough money and had to spend it to stay alive this winter, so It's back to square one... So, I need to find a bear in Washington! I've tried lots of places so far, without even seeing one. So now I'm going to ask for...

    I'm going in spring 2003

Jason, My uncle owns a mining claim on Moose Creek. You can drive there, but you have to go in from the Montana side. I've never been to the claim but he's getting Gold out, every year. Enough to pay for his time and expenses of moving the 5th wheel in every year. Not to bad for hanging out in...

    I'm going in spring 2003

I'm from Washington and have had NO luck here harvesting a bear. I whitewater kayak and have spent a considerable amount of time in Lolo pass, the selway and the North Fork Clearwater rivers. I've seen many bears in those areas and even more harvested in the camps. I live only a 125 miles from...

    Cougar question??

My daughter want's to know how a cougar would react to "catnip"? I couldn't answer her question, so I'm asking the experts. Has anyone ever heard of a cougar encountering catnip? Would it be illegal to plant large quantitys of catnip in your area and get the cats to frequent the spot? It's a...

    No bears, anywheres!

Over in the area I was scouting, there is supposed to be a bumper crop of berrys? Everyone's talking about it, I just can't seem to find them...I know that up in my normal hunting area, NE Washington, that the berrys are just outstanding this year. To go up there, you wouldn't know that there...

    No bears, anywheres!

Went driving yesterday, from the Tri-Cities up thru white pass, checked bunches of FS roads off the the south of the highway, not even one pile of scat. We were looking mostly for berries, and found NONE of them either. So we packed up, drove back down to highway 12, and headed for 123...

    Colorado Bear Attack

It doesn't matter how careful you are, if you're a Woman and you're on the rag in the woods, you're VERY likely to get attacked by a bear and I've even heard of White Tail deer being attracted by the smell...I'm not going to disclose my source, but a "friend" of mine uses, kept in zip lock bags...

    A question for JJHack

That's a pretty long drive for me. Are you in the Nooksack area? The Sauk area? Those two areas do have the highest number listed in the statistics...I suppose I could come over there and help you get a handle on your bear problems. You can see what a logistical problem that I have, being from...

    A question for JJHack

Thanks for the offer Bryan, I would be interested in that area. I got out the maps and checked it out a little bit, It's not as high as everyone say's you need to go? I also looked up the harvest statistics and there were very few bears taken in that area? Is it possible that guys take bears in...
