I really stink at this!
I finally got a truck that works! YEAH! I've got a super trip this weekend, Bouy 10 for Salmon! Got invited, for three days, ride to and from and three nights in a motel...I'm stoked! I really stink at this!
4th year in a row, trying specificly to hunt bear, and still have not seen one. Not even at a great distance. This opening weekend, acting on a tip, I hunted Juniper Mountain, south of Randle. I can personally guarantee that there are NO bears in that area. Loads of rip berries, Blue berries...- 45/70

What did ya learn this past season
I used my new 300 wsm this year, and I learned NOT to shoot deer @ 60 yards with it. I was using Winchester loaded Failsafe 180's and hit a rib. It created the most damage I've ever had. Good clean shot, went straight down, but man did I have to do some cutting. Wife shot a deer with the same... -

Raybow 1, Benton City is by the Tri-Cities, SE corner of the state. Pretty close to the Blue Mountains, but they're all but a waste of time anymore...too many people like the dry hunting conditions. I can usually go anywhere in the State for 3 days max, unless I get lucky and can get some time...- 45/70

Horn Seeker, I do indeed travel to Pend Oreille country. My uncle lives at Rivers Bend, so my wife and I have, both, bow and rifle hunted around there. I've found that area void of open hills. We've found fantastic bear sign but it's always in the deepest cover, or in the middle of the road...- 45/70

I'm going in spring 2003
Jason, My uncle owns a mining claim on Moose Creek. You can drive there, but you have to go in from the Montana side. I've never been to the claim but he's getting Gold out, every year. I'm from Washington and have had NO luck here harvesting a bear. I whitewater kayak and have spent a considerable amount of time in Lolo pass, the selway and the North Fork Clearwater rivers. Went driving yesterday, from the Tri-Cities up thru white pass, checked bunches of FS roads off the the south of the highway, not even one pile of scat. We were looking mostly for berries, and found NONE of them either. So we packed up, drove back down to highway 12, and headed for 123...- 45/70

Colorado Bear Attack
It doesn't matter how careful you are, if you're a Woman and you're on the rag in the woods, you're VERY likely to get attacked by a bear and I've even heard of White Tail deer being attracted by the smell...I'm not going to disclose my source, but a "friend" of mine uses, kept in zip lock bags...- 45/70

That's a pretty long drive for me. Are you in the Nooksack area? The Sauk area?
