    cutco knifes??

My Dad has had one for as long as I can remember and he still uses it. I keep telling him to send it back to have it sharpened. He just says, "what for"! I will be getting one this year because I like the new ones with the orange handle. I have been using the knives of Alaska and really love...

    The frontal shot

I saw a guy take this shot this year on a bull elk and it sounded like it hit a tree. The bull ran off with the arrow, found brite blood for about 75 yards till it started up hill. Then lost the trail and never recovered it. He was shooting a 70# bow with Muzzies. It's not a good percentage...

Humain way to Kill an Elk.

This happened to my hunting partner with his last two bulls. The first one was a high hit and broke the spine to where the bull could not use its hind legs at all. He was not bleeding out very fast and would have probably stayed alive for quite a while. Luckily my partner was not to far and was...

    Washington Help

Thanks for the input fellow WA hunters Another question about two of the units I was talking about, the packwood and the Lewis river. Do the elk seem to be spread around or are they more towards Mt. St Helens or in the direction of the indian reservation? Raybow, where is the Nassel? Is...

If you pay $8000 for an Elk, is it a Trophy?

I think most of us hunt because we love the outdoors and enjoy the challenge presented by the game that we seek. I would feel more proud of a spike bull or cow that I had to track and put a sneak on than any animal I could ever shoot behind a tall fence. Not to put it down so much, everyone has...

    De-boning directions Needed ???

Thanks Elkchsr, I figured it wouldn't be difficult. I didn't know if there were any tricks to it to save as much meat a possible. I guess I'll just have to give a try and see what happens. Fullabull

    De-boning directions Needed ???

Hey all, For the last five years I've hunted in areas where we only had to quarter our elk and pack it no more the 150 yds or so before we could get to it by atv or horse. Next year may be different, we (or I) could be in an area where there is not access other then on foot (we will not have...

    Elk question

Gar Man, They move onto private land!!! At least in Colorado the do You are correct on all three. Elk have no problem moving long distances during the night. So they will move down to deep dark nasty places where the ground in moist and cool. Or they will move up high where the air is...

To Moosie & everyone else here at hunt talk.

Gar Man If this is your fist hunt and you or anyone you are hunting with is lucky enough to take one of these magnificent animals. You will be hooked for life once you see one up close. The fist time I saw one on the ground I just stood there with my mouth open. They are so impressive (as well...
