I get the rugged individualism and all but I am continually surprised that western states law enforcement and/or the fed govt do seem so much weaker on some issues there than they do east of the Mississippi. Wide open spaces must dilute the ability to project power, and some lone individuals...
Once again like whack-a-mole with the flagrant abuses of our public lands. I think, as a group, we need advocacy organizations (so support one or more) to take up these fights one by one. Leaving cattle on grazing leases after deadlines are up should be a pretty open and shut civil case, easy to...
This particular, but I doubt all too rare, ADJACENT landowner entitlement is out of control. He knew full well he was committing premeditated theft and harassment and DID NOT CARE. This is no grey area, no debate, no complicated technical argument, no competing versions of truth. No LE or court...
Exactly. Regardless of what the guy was doing, even before the video started, those wolves could have run as fast and far away as they wanted, but they grouped up and ran at him, exactly as they would in any probing/predatory attack. When he got in a vulnerable dip they picked up speed, and...

Also, tough read in this official report from the woman in Alaska, but at one point they found her mittens along the path she ran while being attacked. The thumb of one mitten was "torn off", (page 10) and...
I posted an interesting video of a pack of wolves decisively loping after a man into a ravine at close range and used a common turn of phrase, and instead of comment on the video you comment on that? Next time a pack runs after you, I'll trust you are debating semantics of whether in an animal...
This article talks about a man being cited for spraying wolves (looks like pepper spray) but the video raised a whole lotta other questions about wolves intent, lack of fear, etc. His actions are stupid but I'm wondering if the pepper(?) spray may have saved him from being torn to shreds...
1 MOE (Margin of Error) seems to work. It varies on the weapon, weather, wind, light, angle, etc. More about knowing your limits than knowing your MOA. How else would you explain so many misses on game by otherwise excellent shots... Seems a lot of people shoot much farther than their MOE.
This is a great DEAL for someone. These are nice rifles. Rem took a little extra care in building them as they were intended to be good shooters as well as collectible even at the time.
Elk killer in 300 Wby!
I have two classics. Love the stocks.
If I had access to decent new ground for whitetail, I would 100% be confident I could go out in late morning, search around, and find a good spot to sit or place a stand by early afternoon, several hours before the magic happens. You should be fine. Unlike more open country hunting for elk or...
Barnett makes some affordable solid xbows. A mechanical like a Rage hypodermic (i like the +p version for more sure penetration) will handle deer with authority. There are definitely fewer things you need to buy for crossbow hunting than normal archery. Still, bolts, broadheads, xbow case, rail...
You learn what every predator innately knows - that when you really see and sense your quarry as food, you are truly hunting. Hunt (or fish) when actually hungry and reliant on what you kill or catch, even for 1 meal, and see what I mean. You will focus differently, work harder, try new tactics...
The world is more full of good people than bad, and I have never been shortchanged and never had an issue with anything I bought or sold on forums or even ebay except one or two USPS losses or damages, recovered from them. Some items are not everything I had hoped but thats what ya get buying...
Worth thinking about and sad for their familes. Who hasn't joked that a packout might be their last. Or even though it more seriously in their head when huffing and puffing up a mountain, at max exertion, but still loving that Type 2 fun. We relate to what we know. Many people will have same...
I did kill a buck a couple years back with around a 70 grain 2F charge but it really did not react significantly to my 1st hit and it was an unpleasant ensuing rodeo to track it and followup.
I'll be experimenting with my 58 hunting load this month which I raised to 90g and may raise up to...
This elk hunt seems like it went off great. Great scenery, adventures, good food, good company, miles driven, miles hiked, elk, moose, and deer about. Everyone made it out.
If killing an elk was the only measure of the hunt, it would'nt make sense for many of us, and probably most non...
