yeah i hunted 551. there are great bucks in there for sure. not a lot of pressure from elk hunters during 3rd season
you know anything about AZ 22 elk?
Wondering if you ever got to 551 in Colorado for deer? I think I could draw this year just gathering peoples opinions I know Oregon and az well if I could swap info good luck this year
551 will be a significant disappointment for anyone burning more than 1-2 points. I don't even include it in my last ditch tier of returned tags. 2-4 year old bulls just don't interest me for trophy potential. OTC archery and 2nd and 3rd rifle really cleans out the upper age classes.
April hunting turkeys in wv
Wyoming points antelope, deer, elk
South Dakota points deer
Nebraska points deer
Colorado put in for 551 muzzleloader elk. With six points I will draw. Planning diy public camp on my back in the high country. First time hunting Colorado so I’m sure the learning curve...
...Pretty low, tag allotments and number of drawn hunters rarely work out to nice even numbers like that.
I bet, with more than 97% confidence, 551 ML will not work out to a clean 100% at 7 and 0% at 6.
More likely, 80% at 7 will draw and 0% at 6 points, or 100% at 7 and 10% at 6 points...
Good Evening All - I have been planning a Rifle hunt in CO for Units 551/681 2nd Rifle with the help of a Gentlemen I have met through this forum. He has been EXTREMELY HELPFUL as this will be mine and my brother in laws first time out west. We have been E-Scouting relentlessly for the past 5/6...
Looks like I am going to be a victim of Colorado point creep this year. I put in for 551 Colorado elk muzzleloader with six points last week. On gohunt and huntin fool both sites had 100 percent draw odds through 2024 at six points. When I looked today they had updated on go hunt and new odds...
I have an opportunity to go elk hunting in the western side of unit 551 and was wondering if anyone has had any experience in this part of the state and what the terrain is like.
Thanks
...Been doing a little research on some units but having a hard time deciding on units and if I should hold out for a fourth season tag. I have the gohunt app, but would love to hear what some of you guys think. Unit 551 has my interest along with 22, 55 and a couple others. Feel free to send a PM.
Is it a private land hunt? The western 1/3 is pretty heavily private. The eastern portion is almost all public. Its steep and pretty rugged as it is where the Monarch pass crosses over the range.
I have 15 NR preference points for Colorado. I've been doing research and narrowed applying to units 6 and 551. I'll be hunting alone, so I want to know what I would need to expect/where I'm going to find deer. My first question regarding unit 6 is, how hard was the 2022/23 winter in this...
I desperately want to find someone that has hunted the first rifle portion for elk in 551 in Colorado. Unless something wild happens this year, I will be able to draw the tag. I’ve had some good conversations with folks that have hunted around 551, but not in it for elk. Do any past 551 first...
This is the gospel truth. My truck bottomed out on forest service “roads” a lot in 551. I was driving around sage and boulders to get through roads I had no business being in.
...posted on the sign board, but this federal order is USC and CFRs.
Here are some excerpts from the order:
