Hmmm interesting comment…there is probably an AT tire that is better than them in mud but I definitely wouldn’t say they suck. At least not in my personal experience. I wouldn’t ask them to do what a MT tire would do, but I’ve definitely had much worse experiences with other brands of AT tires...
I carry a good first aid kit, tire plug kit, small 12V compressor, pressure gauge, tow strap, shackles, tirechains and if I am on some good backcountry dirt roads maybe a 6 pack in a cooler in the backseat.....
Are you taking tirechains? Looks like some snow chances starting Sunday. I’ve never been to CO past September and wonder how bad the FS roads might be. We are renting a 4x4 truck in Denver and wondering if I should buy a set before heading into the mountains.
Breaks are fun until you get 6” of snow opening day morning. Then again 2 weeks later. Might want to view the thread about where to store your tirechains.
absolutely, make sure you have tirechains and shovel. often you will just see their horns sticking up over the brush, if they are bedded they are pretty easy to get in on if you approach from the rear.
...on the east side of 66. Walk up the trail the day after a storm until you hit fresh tracks then follow them up. I was able to take 3 elk in 3 years within 1/2 mile of each other this way. As others have mentioned, the roads can be horrible. Tirechains are really good to have along. Good...
Other than the remote start having been killed when I opted out of connected services I've been enjoying mine.
I put a decked drawer system in it. If you get one for this truck get the snow kit. On my ram the decked platform went all the way back to the tailgate. There is a 2" gap on the...
45 inches of 4 inch will house two heavy tirechains.
I haven’t decided whether to mount across the front of truck under headache rack or down the side under bed rails.
I would like to be able to get a hammer stored inside and a chain cam bar.
Good points. It does have the hydraulic suspensions and about 1" clearance between sidewall and front upper control arm. I've heard amazing things about the LC/LX but my goal is not snow wheeling, else I'd have gotten an old Tacoma and put ridiculously massive tires on it like guys around...
...FX4, Max Tow Package and towing mirrors. Luckily it was available on the lot so I didn't even have to wait. I am going to be getting tirechains, hopefully a winch and a few other things but what do I need to consider for keeping in my truck for hunting purposes?
I already have a jack...
Could be anything but you’d have to prepare for cold, snowy, hostile conditions. Bring tirechains, radios, InReach, extra sleeping layers and ample extra gas. Consider where you are sourcing wood if you plan on wall tenting. I’d pack several totes of cut up untreated 2x4’s just in case. They...
Another thing is tirechains for the high elevation forest areas.
I have a Ford Ranger and like almost every other mid-size they do not "permit" chains in the front as is. I added 1-inch spacers and chains work well.
