Antelope is her favorite meat and asked me to get a tag this year. I tried every week in the returned tags because I didn’t draw one this year. I finally got one and she said she was coming with me. So she pursued the hunt, spotted the antelope, and took part in the whole thing. She wasn’t...
You might want to start demanding accountability then. The people inside are definitely calling Temple and GG out for their bullshit.
How do you feel about temple getting rid of many research bio’s and reassigning them to positions in the parks department? How about him trying to take money...
Holy crap my brother drew a resident type 1 unit 30 elk tag 😲! I will definitely work that into my schedule. He also got his type 0 antelope tag but we didn't talk much about that. Nephew picked up two antelope doe tags hope to tag along for those as well.
I'd be looking at cow elk and/or whitetail deer doe licenses. Antelope doe tags are going to be very low in number and probably very difficult to draw, at least in areas with any public land.
Got 2nd choice antelope, never set foot in that area, should be fun. Cow elk and general deer then OTC whitetail doe for bow hunting. All x2 cause wife and I do party applications.
I live, work, and hunt in these areas and one thing that I cannot believe was left out (unless I missed it) was the amount of mule deer doe harvest. I have seen and had many family, extended family, and friends hunt ranches over the last 10 years where they take in excess of 200 animals off EACH...
Late season cow and doe deer tag for this guy. Missed antelope and bull elk. Oh well, I tend to enjoy the late season cow hunts more than bull hunting anyway. Congrats to all that drew!
Perhaps the most important lesson I learned on this trip was to choose your motel wisely. I gambled on a cheap one and lost. Dad and I got there around 9:00 PM and found that our room was scorching hot. Turned on the A/C unit, which wasn't very effective, though it did work eventually. Floors...
This all started a couple of months ago when I had grand expectations of this fall's hunting. With a handfull of tags in Colorado, and an antelope tag in Wyoming, I went and bought a new freezer to stock with all of the upcoming carnage. Well, with archery and muzzleloader antelope seasons...
Sounds like a fun filled season. The October hunt is questionable though. I have heard stories about those miscreants....hope you know what you're getting yourself into 😉 Look forward to seeing you Cush!
Ruger M77 7x57 with tang safety, open sights and Leupold 4X. My Dad jeweled the bolt and top of follower for fun.
Used to reload 145gr Speer factory 2nds that my Dad got from Lolo Sporting Goods in Lewiston, ID back in the day.
Have killed a bunch of deer, a few elk and a bear with it. My...
One thing I rarely see talked about in these discussions is the impact on the wildlife we’re all supposed to care for and conserve.
We hear plenty about hunter numbers, recruitment, and funding, but what about the effects of intense crowding (not just from hunting) on the wildlife? There’s...
We hit terminal cold point in the cowboy boots and had to make a quick solution. Even my warm layers weren’t in my pack 🤦♂️. I pulled out my hand warmer sleeve thing that I brought for her and we put it over her boots.
I could tell the antelope were going to stand soon so got settled on the...
First deer was a doe with a rifled barrel 870 borrowed from an uncle for youth hunting season. Was pretty hi tech back in 97 or 98 with the old bri sabots. Hunted every year since then and have shot exactly 3 animals with a scope and probably 30-40 with open sights for big game.
First was a...
I think I bought this rifle when my boy was 2 maybe. He's just got big enough to start shooting it in the last year. I prefer 100gr Partitions in the 243. but I'm running low and having a hard time finding more. So I've made up some reduced recoil loads with 80gr ttsx bt that he's been shooting...
Got a few things going this year and can't wait for it to happen:
Antelope - I plan to go out preseason during archery with my crossbow mainly to do scouting and especially if I draw doe tags (which I do not expect to happen but you never know if you win the lottery or not). Then I will be...
I was just over the border in WY. One unit cut all pronghorn tags. 100% cut no tags at all. Other units saw 50-60% cuts and they were not enough. This year was horrible in all the areas known to have been hit hard. The unit I had, I have had 3 times in the last 5 years. In a normal year I was...
I would gather that a landscape chock full of antelope is a great proxy for mule deer potential. I wonder what the pronghorn population would look like with otc doe tags?
