I have arrowed two deer over the years that were exceptionally heavy. One was a huge non-typical from Kaibab that gave me 205 pounds of butchered meat.
The other was an old buck I arrowed in CO last year. I made two trips of boned-out meat that totaled over 100 pounds (including rib meat...
Oaky, Stan (AZ402) has inspired me as well to post some outdoor photos from weekend jaunts. Here's some from the high country of California (yes Kalifornia) from Memorial Weekend.
Here's Mt. Whitney (the highest mountain in the lower 48):
Eastern Sierra range:
High back country lake...

Here's a buck I arrowed yesterday. He's a 5x8 no-typical that grosses 143" and should net around 136 1/8". If the measurements hold after drying, he'll be #4 in the state for his species.
Aaahhhh, one of my favorite hunts......the archery rut hunt for desert mule deer. Here's a 192" gross/187" net P&Y desert mule deer we arrowed in 2003. So far, this is the largest "desert" mule deer ever arrowed in Arizona (according to the BIA). They do exist.......but are rare, especially...
Well I’m back boys from my late season CA hunt……..what an experience…..both highs and lows. This is a very hard tag to draw (35 tags) and is a rifle hunt that I was going to try with my bow.
I got up there the night before and set camp up. Checked on some deer I had scouted the week before...
Oscar:
On a wall pedastal mount, I prefer the ears in the "natural" position. Not alert or forward, but not pointing back either. Here are a few pedestal mounts (center) of two velvet bucks a friend of mine has on his trophies. I think they both look natural and not the classic "ears alert"...
What an awesome hunt. Beautiful rugged country that left me 158 pounds soaking wet. I'm sure glad I got into good shape, as the mountain did not win this particular battle.
We backpacked in over six miles 4 days early to scout and were met with some of the worst weather in years...

Was in Wyoming for a 4 day weekend visiting relatives and was able to slip away for a bit and snap some photos of some critters. Hope you enjoy.
For all you Dinky Dog Rat Deer hunters.....a good one.
Sharing the dinner table:
Seeeeeeet bucks guys......even you too Trent. :D Okay, here's a few contributions.....ALL archery bucks of course.
Some at the house...the small 4x4 on the far left is a Columbian Blacktail.
One not mounted:
Well, I finally made it back from the Colorado high country after being in the wilderness for eleven days. I can’t believe how good food tastes that you don’t have to add water to. What a hunt! I’ve never been sheep hunting, but this timberline backpacking mule deer archery hunt above 12,000...
Well, I finally made it back from my Arizona archery elk hunt. What an awesome experience. I’ve forgotten how great this hunt really is. My hat's off to the AZG&F for proper management of this specie.
The hunt started out slow, with few bulls bugling and a full moon to contend with. Both...
Trent:
Yeah, yeah, yeah, flattery will go you no where...... :wank: :D I must admit though, that whitey of yours is always a pleasure to see. Definately no dink dog rat deer there! YOU DA MAN! hump
Bambi: (addressing you as "BS" just didn't seem right)
Wish I killed that super wide...
Here's a few bucks the "BOHNTR Crew" was able to arrow during the Janaury archery season in Arizona 2005.
Fred's 23" massive downhill buck. Grosses 158" P&Y: (Wish I hadn't passed him earlier in the week  )
Wally's 25" 4x4 with broken G-4. Still grosses in the 150's.
T-Bone:
I hear ya! It's amazing what kids will prefer over more "modern" entertainment. My kids also enjoy shooting their bows.....They REALLY enjoy 3D tournaments though. Here's one we went to last month.....he sure was proud of that 20 point arrow at the bionic target (metal).
