    Construction, busy or slowing down

Curious what the overall # of housing starts in your area/MSA are? Being “busy” is a relative thing, in the Texas markets we cover I am expecting 35,000 housing starts in 2025, and we’ll have 40% of the market with the product in the part of the company I manage. It’s relatively low margin...

    Construction, busy or slowing down

Residential in South Texas (San Antonio metro) is still going pretty strong especially with entry level homes…there is an intense race to the bottom on vendor pricing that is likely to cause a train wreck, but a couple of our big public homebuilder customers are putting houses down and selling...

Any of yalls wifes missing hair?

There was at one time. Hair can stay in a fence for a very long time. Or the other guy hunting turkey & hopping fences in that field really needs a manscaper.

7’ Indigo snake eating a 5’ bull snake

That seems like a terrible idea, what kind of drugs are they giving them?

7’ Indigo snake eating a 5’ bull snake

Meh, the indigos are big but they are docile, the kids catch them for giggles sometimes.

7’ Indigo snake eating a 5’ bull snake

I was at my South Texas deer lease this morning and saw this 7’ long Indigo snake catch and eat a 5’ bull snake right in front of the porch. It was pretty wild. My daughter had 5 friends from school down and they got to see it too, they didn’t seem to traumatized. You could see the...

    Verify that you hunt

I have not shot very many animals myself since my wife and kids started hunting, but I have certainly facilitated a great deal of hunting for them and the kids friends over the last few years. But I did kill a couple decent bucks a few years ago.

    Robot Horse

I can see myself riding this beast up the mountain, crossbow in one hand, Miller Latte in the other, hot on the trail of a “slammer” bull…and I would definitely just be in a loin cloth, boots, spurs and pit vipers. Just hammerin’ bro!

    2024-25 hunting season recap

Some public hunting, mostly private on a place I lease/manage but it probably beats a political argument. Season started like always with doves, we had a big group down and killed a bunch of birds, my kids held their own: Then two nephews came down and got a couple of nice early season...

    China Milu Deer

They are really neat looking deer, there are a decent number of them in Texas - I think for a while they were not allowed to be shot even on high fence places in Texas. “Pere David’s deer”. Good luck!

And Utah says, Hold my Beer!

True…but I believe Utah is about to hit my limit. I have 9 or 10 points for most species there, I’ll apply another year or so, maybe hunt general deer just to see some new country then just let the rest of points go - odds are not good anyways.

2025-26 New Mexico pubs are up.

They almost always post on a Wednesday a week before the date they state on the website, they posted on April 17 last year.
