    Battery Chainsaws

I have a GreenWorks that seems ok for light duty, I can't really compare it to anything because the only other gas saw was a small POS. I keep it in the truck mostly to cut trees that have fallen in the road. You can often pick one up on sale.

    Muzzleloader Safety

Several things in this post don't make sense to me. 1) Negligent discharge by Sasquatch, why was any part of his body in front of the muzzle? More like negligent following rules of gun safety (I don't know the details beyond what you said, maybe something else was going on). It also seems like...

    Muzzleloader Safety

Didn't read all the replies so maybe this is repeating some answers. With my traditional gun (#11 caps and pyrodex) I keep the cap on while hunting. At end of the day or getting in vehicles I remove the cap and lower the hammer down on a patch or cleaning swab over the nipple, which will...

    Skull Cleaning PSA

I've been using a piece of coat hanger wire with a hook bent in the end, I'll try the weed eater string next time.

    As they lay

2026 bull shot 2 days ago, the ol' TC renegade strikes again! As I've gotten older I spend more time sitting blinds and treestands and less time walking, but I killed this bull while still hunting through the timber, so that was a lot of fun.

    As they lay

I replaced the original (26"?) barrel with a Green Mountain carbine barrel (21") about 25 years ago. I guess that company no longer exists? The gun has a great feel and balance, it came back out of the gun safe when New Mexico re-banned scopes a couple of years ago.

    As they lay

I made a poor shot near sunset, bumped him twice, so I left him overnight. Luckily he died within a few yards of where I last saw him, I guess the closed eyes are a result of not dying quick? Not ideal but I got him after a sleepless night.

    Late monsoons, record El Nino...

The final September rain tally at the weather station a block from my house was 6.26". After only a 1/2" in August.

    Late monsoons, record El Nino...

Got an inch at my house since yesterday evening, light rain right now. The Butte has risen a foot in the last few days, but we need a lot more and the forecast looks to be fizzling out somewhat now.

    Late monsoons, record El Nino...

Got 1.5" at my house in ABQ since Tuesday, finally! Odd pattern of rain after midnight and waking up to cloudy wet weather. Supposed to be very wet next week also. Elephant Butte actually rose a few inches but is still at 1.4%. If it keeps raining maybe it'll make it to 2-3%.

What's the thought about the floating minnow, less wake?

    Fly under bubble trout

While deer hunting in SE Utah I spent some midday time fishing for trout in two small nearby lakes, and had fun using a light spinning rod throwing flies under a bubble. I was never a fly rod purist so any tool that works is ok in my book, and in some instances the spinning rod works great. One...

Bots and Colorado tag reissue list

Same here, got tags 3 times in the past, but none since 2022. Tried hard last year with no luck, and this year is looking similar, something has changed.
