Had another pretty good hunt last night. I usually don’t target spruce grouse, getting them as a bonus bird when chasing blues or ruffs, but man a mature male spruce grouse is such a cool looking bird.
Marinated venison heart skewers. One of the best heart preparations I’ve tried. I think it would work equally well with steak, and I especially want to try it with duck and sharptailed grouse if I get any this fall...
I’ve been shooting non-tox exclusively for a few years now and I’ve had good luck with steel 7s on ruffs/blues/spruceys in the mountains. Bismuth 4s or 5s for pheasants. With the trouble in getting bismuth lately, I might have to go back to steel for pheasants since I often hunt in areas where...
I am selling a brand new, never fired Weatherby 307 Alpine ST in 300 Win Mag. I won this rifle in a raffle, recently. I don’t need another 30 caliber magnum, so I’m selling it to fund another rifle.
Comes equipped with a Peak 44 Bastion stock, Trigger Tech trigger, spiral fluted 22” barrel...
There was a time when the Model 99 was the most popular rifle at our deer camp in Northern MN. The founder of the camp used a 99 in 303 Savage for most of his life. I believe that was manufactured in the 30’s. My dad still hunts with his mid 50s era Model 99 in 300 Savage. At some point I intend...
Northern Minnesota deer camp was good to me this year. Got this nine pointer (my biggest whitetail) on Sunday morning with my .270 Win. The 130 Hornady CX destroyed the heart. He ran about 50 yards and died right in the trail. Easiest drag I’ve ever had!
Found a nice Montana buck this morning. He was rubbing/raking brush when I shot him, trying to impress the doe he was with I guess. 6.5 creedmoor loaded with a Barnes 120 TTSX.
Finally found a Montana buck. There were three in the group he was in, the other two had shed their sheaths and he had already shed one. I don’t mind, I’m happy to have my favorite meat in the cooler. Gave him the Howa Handshake with the @Big Fin Howa in 6.5 Creedmoor.
