    West coast salmon recovery

You’ve got to think outside the box. Removing the dams restores all that pheasant habitat my grandfather talked about! OK it also speeds up travel time for the smolt and reduces predation impacts…

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

I’d have been a heck of a lot happier to see the money being spent in Iran going to American infrastructure. There is a huge bunch of defense contracting coming to Montana and Wyoming over the next few years though. Another bill the nation can’t pay but it keeps us working at least.

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

And the big difference is we are trying to keep around 100 craft working but without the profit I don’t have a job for long!

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

Big difference between man hours and profit. Data centers are getting all the attention including bidding wars for craft and after turnover maintenance staff. The rest of the market appears to be going for cost. We have contractors from Denver and the Midwest moving into Montana trying to...

    West coast salmon recovery

I always ask to see the math on these topics. When populations are knocked down to virtually nothing, a 100% improvement is “significant” yet culturally disappointing. An example would be a mathematical improvement from 100 fish to a 1000 fish is huge mathematically but trivial compared to...

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

This article confirms what I have been saying for the last year. The construction economy is a bellwhether or canary in the coal mine for the rest of the economy particularly in the mountain west. There are odd variances like high end custom homes but overall I am seeing the market retract to...

This is not gonna buff out,,,,FFS,,,

Dang I’d like to see the language on that claim rejection. Speed limit 80 on the freeway but it’s an open range state so driver be aware you’re not covered if you hit a cow on the there rather than an elk? One more strike against insurers in the mountain states.

    "Non-Corporate" YouTube hunting channels

I also enjoy Kyle McClelland on his Adventure Chasing You tube site. He is really enthusiastic about the UP country— makes me want to visit that country. He doesn’t have any ego about catch and cook with trout or smallmouth and has shown several hunts with whitetail does that is refreshing...

    Berry Crop Failure

I also read that the Flathead cherry crop is really hit or miss depending on the location. Wettest spring and early summer I have seen in decades but it looks like the heat is in route. Bummer for the berries. I’m curious about the grouse hatch this year too.

Samong Yang seems like a good kid and in it for the right reasons. His content is well done without a lot of theatrics.

There is definitely a reason for building inspectors. It is stunning the things people do.

    Historic Bozeman Hotel Renovation

The tough part in renovating the old ones is dealing with asbestos, lead paint, and seismic upgrades before you even get to aesthetics. Then it’s a complete rebuild of mechanical and electrical so it’s tough to make a pro forma work if they are too far gone! It’s sure an honor to be part of a...

    West coast salmon recovery

Tons of data here. The Gulf of Alaska trawling looks like they pick up a lot of west coast salmon as we have always figured. https://meetings.npfmc.org/CommentReview/DownloadFile?p=bbad9f76-b42d-4e69-adb4-6e269dd1c528.pdf&fileName=B10%20Chinook%20Bycatch%20Genetics%20Report.pdf

    HVAC job Bozeman

Lots of work but you really need to look into the insane cost of living near Bozeman before jumping in. Many craft are commuting in a good distance to be able to afford to live. Being a tech on the HVAC distribution service side is a solid move for job security if it works for you financially...

    Weekend Libations

Curious about that black currant wine! I’ve been thinking about planting some black currants along a fence line. Now I have a better reason if it’s good!

    Replacing a boat floor

You’d be fine with 3/4 AC and coat it with epoxy resin on both sides. If you need more strength you could embed 6 oz fiberglass in the epoxy on top. I’d make sure the edges are sealed with a urethane caulk.

    West coast salmon recovery

I’m not quite following on the thought that pinks and chums don’t eat the same feed. Pinks and Chums eat smaller fish just like Kings and steelhead and Coho. It is sockeye that are plankton and krill eaters. The article is looking at the total numbers of formerly river fertilizer fish being...
