    Metalworking Hunttalkers!

Depends on the budget. I have a yeswelder 200 and I've been pleased with it so far. I dont trust it to last forever but for the price I couldn't justify jumping up to the next tier of machine. Harbor freight used to be the budget no-brainer but they've gotten a little proud of their machines.

    2026 Garden

3rd straight day of this heat has started to take a toll. Final squash from the first planting also has a vine borer so I tried injecting it with BT, hopefully that will work. Romas and cherokee purples struggling with blossom end rot. Cherry tomatoes doing really well though, both of the...

Not to tempt fate but it looks like the surgery on the squash plant was successful. Still putting off plenty of new leaves and flowers. Also, I've got a fig on the fig tree so thats cool.

    2026 Garden

3.5-4 inches of rain since last Thursday, definitely will help make up for the drought but also not great for tomatoes starting to turn. I'll take it though for sure. Another squash got hit with a vine borer so thats 3/4 from the first planting. Think I caught this one early enough but we will...

    Metalworking Hunttalkers!

My brother's a teacher and asked if I could repair some stools from their chemistry lab at some point over the summer. Had the free time today to take care of it.

Scratch that, second zucchini got hit too. I cut them both open this morning to remove the grubs. Probably too late but theres always a chance they'll reroot above the damage.

Vine borers got one of my zucchini plants. Got almost an inch of rain Saturday evening, that was nice. Pulling a couple strawberries off. Saturday I'll probably plant two more squash and zucchini in the bed that had potatoes. Lettuce is just about done with this heat. Tomatoes are humming along.

    That other Rinella fella

"Nobody needs to shoot multiple big bull elk a year" Well counterpoint, I'd venture to say nobody I know needs to shoot any game to survive in this modern world. You'd almost always come out ahead by forgoing your hunting trips and picking up extra shifts at work and eating chicken. The...

Lettuce didnt appreciate the heat today. Thankfully it'll be short-lived but still. And surprise, surprise those thunderstorms are now going around us it looks like. Dry as dust here.

    2026 Garden

Drought is fighting hard but things are doing okay. We had VBS at church last week so things didnt get watered very much but I still was able to pull my first zucchini, squash, and cherry tomatoes of the year. Decided to go ahead and dig potatoes Saturday. Not a great yield, I dont think I...

    2026 Garden

Everything really taking off here. First squash and zucchini are growing, one cayenne is growing, tomatoes are really filling out and need to be pruned, potatoes getting close to digging time, few strawberries showing up, beans starting to come out, watermelon feels like its growing a foot a...

    2026 Garden

Been cool this week but thats ending it looks like. Still very little to no rain in sight. New irrigation is doing well, just a few mods and it'll be perfect I think. Everything is coming in nicely. First harvest of all lettuce is done. Little bit of yellowing on some of the potatoes but I...

    2026 Garden

Thankful for a good day of rain here. Emptied .5" this morning before I left for work and then had this in the gauge when I got home. Everything is humming along. Needed the rain too because I'm waiting for a prv for my irrigation system. Still in severe drought overall but enough rain recently...

    2026 Garden

Been kicking around getting a fig tree and couldn't resist this LSU purple at the garden supply. Should be well-established enough to produce this year. For now I'm just going to keep it in a container, may end up planting it though.
